Team Astromega was a racing team from Belgium, headquartered in Heist-op-den-Berg and created in 1995 by Mikke Van Hool. The team has competed in A1 Grand Prix, Formula Renault 1.6 Belgium and International Formula 3000. History Team Astromega was created in 1995 by Belgian International Formula 3000 driver Mikke Van Hool, who wanted to drive in his own team. Since 1996, Sam Boyle has been the team manager. In 2003, Werner Gillis, an expert in financial management, became co-team owner. The same year, Robby Arnott joined the team as chief engineer after working with DAMS racing team. In 2003, a Belgian Formula Renault 1.6 championship was created and Astromega was selected to organise the technical assistance for the series rookie test with assistance of two drivers from normal and Indoor Karting. A1 Grand Prix Operations Ltd. operated as A1 Grand Prix (A1GP) was a "single-make" open-wheel auto racing series that ran from 2005 until 2009. It was unique in its field in that competitors solely represented their nation as opposed to themselves or a team, the usual format in most formula racing series. As such, it was often promoted as the " World Cup of Motorsport". The series was ratified by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), and races were held in the traditional Formula One off-season, the northern hemisphere winter. 2007–08 A1 Grand Prix Season
The 2007–08 A1 Grand Prix season was the third season of A1 Grand Prix. Calendar The Indonesian round at Sentul was removed from the calendar. Following the farcical Beijing round the previous season, the second Chinese event was moved to Zhuhai International Circuit near Hong Kong. Two pre-season tests were held at Silverstone Circuit on 28–29 August 2007 and 18–19 September 2007. Due to Zandvoort's noise restrictions, regular and rookie practice sessions were not held on Friday at the Dutch round. Saturday morning was dedicated to practice sessions and Saturday afternoon to qualifying. The 1997 International Formula 3000 season was the thirty-first season of the second-tier of Formula One feeder championship and also thirteenth season under the International Formula 3000 Championship moniker. Marc Goossens, nicknamed The Goose (born 30 November 1969), is a Belgian professional racing driver that currently competes in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, priorly driving the No. 14 Chevrolet Camaro for SpeedHouse in the EuroNASCAR PRO class. Judd is a brand of racing car engines built by Engine Developments Ltd., a company founded in 1971 by John Judd and Jack Brabham in Rugby, Warwickshire, England.
