A sub transmission for automotive transmission mechanics is an extra manual or automatic transmission that is independent of the main transmission. In a four-wheel drive vehicle, an extra gear stick is often provided to transfer torque when needed and to put the vehicle into low range. Transfer Case
A transfer case is an intermediate gearbox that transfers power from the transmission of a motor vehicle to the driven axles of four-wheel-drive, all-wheel-drive, and other multi-axled on- and off-road machines. A part of the vehicle's drivetrain, it employs drive shafts to mechanically deliver motive power. The transfer case also synchronizes the difference between the rotation of the front and rear wheels (only high-speed 4wd-Awd systems), and may contain one or more sets of low range gears for off-road use. Functions The transfer gearbox (a secondary transmission system) receives power from the transmission and sends it to both the front and rear axles, or just one (usually the rear.) Honda CB900C
The Honda CB900C is a cruiser motorcycle produced by Honda from 1980 to 1982 primarily for the American market. Rider Magazine, March 1980 It was succeeded by the CB1000C in 1983. Design The CB900c had a front and rear air assisted suspension, shaft drive, and a dual-range sub-transmission. The CB900C was derived from the DOHC CB750K, and is closely related to the CB900F and the 1983-only CB1100F, both derivatives of the CB750 line. The air/ oil cooled DOHC engine has 4 32 mm Keihin CV carburetors and electronic ignition. The Mitsubishi Cordia is a compact car, compact hatchback-coupé manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors between 1982 and 1990. Mitsubishi Super Shift Transmission
The Super Shift transmission, also marketed as Twin-Stick, was a manual transaxle transmission developed by Mitsubishi Motors in the late 1970s and used in a limited number of the company's road cars, most of which were manufactured in the 1980s. It was unusual in that it had 8 forward speeds in a 4x2 arrangement. It essentially installed a "married" overdrive unit to its manual transmission, something rare in a production vehicle of this type. Overview The Super Shift gearbox was developed from a standard four-speed manual transmission for use in the first generation Mitsubishi Mirage, the company's first front wheel drive model.
