Streetlife is a registered charity based in Blackpool, United Kingdom. The charity was founded in 1984 and their shelter opened in 1992. Their aim is to provide shelter and support to young homeless people across North West England aged between 16-25. Around 400 young people access Streetlife's services each year. Streetlife's current CEO is Jane Hugo. There are also 6 full-time and 5 part-time staff members, in addition to 35 volunteers working for the charity. Volunteers come from countries such as Ghana, New Zealand, Spain and Germany to work for the charity. Streetlife receives support from The Amy Winehouse Foundation and Children In Need. In 2010, the charity was presented with the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service. Due to austerity measures, in 2014 Streetlife received news that they would lose £100,000 in funding from Blackpool Council. Streetlife was a British social networking website that linked users together based on the neighbourhood where they live. Background Streetlife was developed by entrepreneur and software developer Matt Boyes, after his brother-in-law's new London home had been burgled in 2008 and he had found it awkward to get in contact with his neighbours. Originally called "Streetbook", it was trialed in the London Borough of Wandsworth. Streetlife.com was launched in the rest of the UK on 21 March 2011. Streetlife received financial investment from newspaper and magazine company Archant, Caffè Nero co-founder Paul Ettinger, and Friends Reunited founder Steve Pankhurst, amongst others. ''Street Life'' is a studio album by the American jazz band The Crusaders. It was a top 20 album on three '' Billboard'' charts and represents the peak of the band's commercial popularity. The title track, featuring singer Randy Crawford, was a Top 40 pop single (No. 36) and became the group's most successful entry on the soul chart (No. 17). It was No. 5 on the UK Singles Chart. "Street Life" also hit the disco chart, peaking at No. 75, and was re-recorded by Doc Severinsen with Crawford reprising her vocal for the opening sequence of the noir crime drama ''Sharky's Machine'', directed by Burt Reynolds in 1981. ''Streetlife'' is the debut album by Australian rock group, Geeza. It was released in mid-1977 by Laser Records / RCA Records and was produced by Mario Millo. The first single, 'Run 'n' Hide', peaked at number 56 on the Australian Kent Music Report Singles Chart, while the second single, 'Song to Warilla', failed to chart. Background Geeza was formed in Sydney's western suburbs in late 1973. Their cabaret-style theatrical performances included exploding phone boxes and other extravagant props that were used to win over audiences across Sydney. By September 1975, the band consisted of Gabriel Vendetti on guitar; Lee Martin (aka Martin Adamson) on bass guitar and backing vocals; Allan Fraiel on drums and backing vocals; and Terry Halliday (aka Terry Meaney) on lead vocals.
