Sticky-shed Syndrome
Sticky-shed syndrome is a condition created by the deterioration of the binders in a magnetic tape, which hold the ferric oxide magnetizable coating to its plastic carrier, or which hold the thinner back-coating on the outside of the tape. This deterioration renders the tape unusable. Some kinds of binder are known to break down over time, due to the absorption of moisture (hydrolysis). The symptoms of this breakdown can be immediately obvious even when rewinding the tape: tearing sounds and sluggish behavior. If a tape with sticky-shed syndrome is played, the reels will make screeching or squeaking sounds, and the tape will leave dusty, rusty particles on the guides and heads. In some cases, particularly with digital tapes, the symptoms are more subtle, causing intermittent dropouts. RMGI
Recording Media Group International B.V., sometimes also named as Recordable Media Group International (also known as RMGi) was a Dutch manufacturer of magnetic tape products based in Oosterhout. This plant was initially built by Philips in 1968, and spun off into a joint venture with DuPont, PDM (Philips DuPont Magnetics B.V.) which lasted until 1993. At this point, an unknown foreign investor (probably SK of Germany) took over the plant and named the company Magnetic Products Oosterhout B.V. In 2004, the company became known by its current name after acquiring equipment, processes, and talent from EMTEC's Munich plant. ''Tape Head'' is the seventh studio album by American rock band King's X, released in 1998 via Metal Blade Records. A music video was made for the song "Fade". "World" is a reworked song from the band's ''Sneak Preview'' demos. The controversial unreleased track "Quality Control" is included on the album, but has been re-titled to "Happy". The majority of the lyrics are now different, including the lack of profanity. The album cover picture is that of Doug Pinnick wrapped in recording tape. According to Pinnick, he brought the songs "Happy", "Cupid" and "Hate You", and Ty Tabor brought "Ocean" to the ''Tape Head'' recording sessions.
