Snowboarding At The 2018 Winter Paralympics – Men's Banked Slalom
The men's banked slalom competition of the 2018 Winter Paralympics was held at Jeongseon Alpine Centre in South Korea. The competition took place on 16 March 2018. Medal table The ranking in the table is based on information provided by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and will be consistent with IPC convention in its published medal tables. By default, the table will be ordered by the number of gold medals the athletes from a nation have won (in this context, a "nation" is an entity represented by a National Paralympic Committee). The number of silver medals is taken into consideration next and then the number of bronze medals. Keith Gabel (born July 20, 1984) is a Paralympic snowboarder originally from Ogden, Utah. Gabel competed for the United States at the 2014 Winter Paralympics and again in 2018. He won silver in 2018 snowboard cross division SB-LL2 and had won bronze in 2014. He became involved in adaptive sports after he lost his foot in 2000. Carl Murphy (snowboarder)
Carl Murphy (born 17 April 1979) is a New Zealand Para-snowboard cross racer who competed at the 2014 Winter Paralympics. Personal life Murphy was born in New Plymouth, New Zealand on 17 April 1979. He was born missing the lower part of one of his legs and then had the leg amputated at the knee. He works as an architectural designer. Snowboarding Murphy competes in the SB LL2 Para-snowboarding classification, using a specially designed carbon fibre prosthetic leg. He started snowboarding in 1997 and entered his first competition in 2007, winning two gold medals at the New Zealand Championships. Mike Shea (born March 31, 1983) is a retired American para-snowboarder. He won a silver medal at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in the inaugural Snowboard cross event. At the World Para Snowboard Championships in the LL2 division, Shea won gold in the 2015 banked slalom event and bronze in the 2017 snowboard cross event. In 2014 and 2015, Shea was nominated for the Best Male Athlete with a Disability ESPY Award. Shea retired from snowboarding in 2020. Daniel Wagner Jørgensen (born 3 June 1993), who also competes as Daniel Wagner, is a leg amputee Danish Paralympic sportsman who has competed in both track and field athletics and snowboarding. As an athlete he specialises in the long jump, but also competes in sprint events. Personal career Jørgensen was born in Vejle, Denmark in 1993. As a youth he was a keen sportsman and took up both snowboarding and gymnastics. In 2008, whilst attempting a double front flip on a trampoline at a gymnastic show he landed badly and dislocated his knee. In the resulting surgery, doctors were sadly forced to amputate his leg.
