Ski School
A ski school is an establishment that teaches skiing, typically in a ski resort. The modern version of the ski school was invented by the Austrian ski pioneer Hannes Schneider in the early 1920s when he formalized instruction methods and established these methods as teaching principles for all ski instructors at his school. A ski resort is a resort developed for skiing, snowboarding, and other winter sports. Hannes Schneider
Johann "Hannes" Schneider (24 June 1890 – 26 April 1955) was an Austrian ski instructor of the first half of the 20th century, famous for pioneering the Arlberg technique of instruction. Many consider him the Father of Modern Day Skiing. A statue of him in North Conway, New Hampshire, states the very same claim. Biography Schneider was born in the town of Stuben am Arlberg in Austria, the son of a farmer who also kept a few cows that provided fresh milk for local cheesemakers. His father was also a road supervisor tasked with keeping the crucial Arlberg Pass open during the winter months. It was his father's hope that Hannes would become a cheesemaker. Hannes first observed skiing in 1900 when Viktor Sohm visited the town of Stuben. Canadian Ski Instructors' Alliance
The Canadian Ski Instructors' Alliance (CSIA), founded in 1938, is an association of more than twenty thousand professional skiers located across Canada. The CSIA's purposes are to ensure a nationwide ski teaching standard through the development of effective skiing techniques and teaching methods and promote the importance of ski safety. A ski simulator is an installation or device which allows the user to mimic the actions of snow skiing without a snow-covered expanse of terrain. Intended use Simulators are primarily used for endurance and technique training, which can take place off-season, indoors or outside the snow belt. The level of fidelity ranges from home exercise equipment (simulating the classic Nordic cross-country stride or the slalom side to side motion) to immersive virtual reality systems in Olympic training centers.
