Sharksploitation
Sharksploitation is a subgenre of exploitation film that involves sharks or shark attacks. The genre emerged in the wake of the 1975 film ''Jaws'' and its sequels, but fell in popularity soon after. The 1999 film '' Deep Blue Sea'' brought it back to public prominence. Other examples of sharksploitation films include ''Mega Shark Versus Giant Octopus'' (2009), '' Dinoshark'', ''Sharktopus'' (both 2010), '' Snow Shark'' (2012), '' Ghost Shark'' (2013), ''Avalanche Sharks'' (2014), and the ''Sharknado'' film series (2013–2018). In 2023, a feature-length documentary film about the subgenre, titled '' Sharksploitation'', was produced and released by Shudder. Jaws 3-D
''Jaws 3-D'' (titled ''Jaws III'' in its 2-D form) is a 1983 American horror film directed by Joe Alves and starring Dennis Quaid, Bess Armstrong, Simon MacCorkindale and Louis Gossett Jr. As the second sequel to Steven Spielberg's '' Jaws'' it was the third installment in the ''Jaws'' franchise. The film follows the Brody children from the previous films to SeaWorld, a Florida marine park with underwater tunnels and lagoons. As the park prepares for opening, a young great white shark infiltrates the park from the sea, seemingly attacking and killing the park's employees. Once the shark is captured, it becomes apparent that a second, much larger shark also entered the park and was the real culprit. The Last Shark
''Great White'' (a.k.a. ''The Last Shark''; ) is a 1981 Italian horror film directed by Enzo G. Castellari, having originally been assigned to Ruggero Deodato. In the film James Franciscus and Vic Morrow attempt to save hundreds of swimmers in a coastal resort after a large great white shark starts terrorizing the area and eating tourists. ''Tintorera'' is a 1977 Mexican-British horror film directed by René Cardona Jr. and starring Susan George, Hugo Stiglitz, Fiona Lewis and Andrés García. It is based on the novel of the same name by oceanographer Ramón Bravo, who studied the species of shark known as 'tintorera' (a shark) and discovered the sleeping sharks of Isla Mujeres.
