Milkshake
A milkshake (sometimes simply called a shake) is a sweet beverage made by blending milk, ice cream, and flavorings or sweeteners such as butterscotch, caramel sauce, chocolate syrup, fruit syrup, or whole fruit into a thick, sweet, cold mixture. It may also be made using a base made from non-dairy products, including plant milks such as almond milk, coconut milk, or soy milk. Milkshakes originated in the United States around the turn of the 20th century, and grew in popularity following the introduction of electric blenders in the subsequent two decades. They became a common part of youth popular culture, as ice cream shops were a culturally acceptable meeting place for youth, and milkshakes became symbolic of the innocence of youth. Wood shingles are thin, tapered pieces of wood primarily used to cover roofs and walls of buildings to protect them from the weather. Historically shingles, also known as shakes, were split from straight grained, knot free ''bolts'' of wood. Today shingles are mostly made by being cut which distinguishes them from shakes, which are made by being split out of a bolt. Wooden shingle roofs were prevalent in the North American colonies (for example in the Cape-Cod-style house), while in central and southern Europe at the same time, thatch, slate and tile were the prevalent roofing materials. In rural Scandinavia, wood shingle roofs were a common roofing material until the 1950s. Wood shingles are susceptible to fire and cost more than other types of shingle so they are not as common today as in the past. Shakes are cracks in timber. Arising in cut timber they generally cause a reduction in strength. When found in a log they can result in a significant amount of waste, when a log is converted to lumber. Apart from heart shakes, often found in trees felled past their best, shakes in a log have no effect on the strength of shake free lumber obtained therefrom. They are often seen in oak-framed buildings, which are constructed of oak which has not been dried and thus cracks while drying. Due to the immense strength of the oak beams, they are not a cause for concern in a properly engineered building, and are considered part of the charm of the style. Malik Benjamin "Shake" Milton (born September 26, 1996), nicknamed "Sniper Shake", is an American professional basketball player for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for Southern Methodist University (SMU) from 2015 to 2018. The Shake (Rock Band)
The Shake is a New York City indie rock band. The band was active from 2005 - 2012. The band was originally formed by Jon Merkin (lead vocals, guitar), Eliad Shapiro (lead guitar, vocals), Jeremy Stein (bass, vocals), and Andrew McNellis (drums). Following McNellis' departure in 2008, Vishal Kumar joined the band as their drummer. Kumar departed in 2009, and was replaced on drums by Daniel Kirschen. Shapiro departed in 2010 to attend Cornell Law School, and was replaced by Mike Serman on lead guitar. The group disbanded in 2012.
