Samak Mofa
The Cooperation Committee of the Nordic Workers' Movement (, , Norwegian , ), better known by its abbreviation SAMAK, is a social democratic European political alliance gathering parties and labour councils in Nordic countries. SAMAK consists of all social democratic parties and trade union organisations in the Nordic countries, including in Greenland, the Faroe Islands and Åland. The current president of the committee as of 2024 is Mette Frederiksen, the leader of the Social Democrats and Prime Minister of Denmark. Antti Rinne is the general secretary, and Kjersti Stenseng the chair of the board. The committee was formed during the first Scandinavian Workers' Congress in Gothenburg in 1886. SAMAK holds a congress every four years, while the board meets four to six times per year. Mette Frederiksen (; born 19 November 1977) is a Danish politician who has been the Prime Minister of Denmark, prime minister of Denmark since June 2019, and Social Democrats (Denmark)#Leaders of the Social Democrats, leader of the Social Democrats since June 2015. The second woman to hold either office, she is also the youngest prime minister in Danish history, the first to be born after Margrethe II's accession to the throne, and the first to serve under Frederik X. The Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (, LO) is a national trade union center, decidedly the largest and probably the most influential umbrella organization of labour unions in Norway. The 21 national unions affiliated to the LO have almost 1,000,000 members of a Norwegian population of 5 million. The majority of affiliated unions organizes traditional blue collar workers, but the largest affiliate is the Norwegian Union of Municipal and General Employees which makes up more than a third of all members. LO is affiliated to the ITUC and the ETUC. It was named the Workers' National Trade Union (, AFL) from 1899 to 1957. The Åland Social Democrats () is a social-democratic political party on the Åland Islands. In the 2023 parliamentary election, the party won 12.82% of the popular vote and 4 out of 30 seats, a gain of one. The current organisation was founded in 1971, although, there have been worker's associations on Åland since 1906. After the independence of Finland, the Åland Social Democrats were closer to the Swedish Social Democratic Party than the Social Democratic Party of Finland. Siumut (SIU, ; ; ) is a political party in Greenland in the social democratic tradition. Since the establishment of home rule in 1979, it has been the dominant party in Greenland. The Social Democratic Party (, , JF) (, JF) is a social democratic political party on the Faroe Islands, led by Aksel V. Johannesen. History The Social Democratic Party was founded on 25 September 1925 by members of Faroese trade unions. Its youth organization '' Sosialistiskt Ungmannafelag'' (Socialist Youth) was founded in 1965. At the 2004 general election on 20 January 2004, the party received 21.8% of the popular vote and therefore won 7 out of 33 seats in the Løgting. The Danish Trade Union Confederation (, FH) is the largest National trade union center, national trade union centre in Denmark. On formation in 2019, it had 79 affiliated unions, with a total of 1.4 million members.
