Dennis Rumley
Dennis Rumley is a political geographer from the ‘Newcastle School’ and a "long time specialist of the Indian Ocean Region and now of the Indo-Pacific Region". He is Emeritus Professor at Curtin University. Career Rumley was the founding editor of the ''Journal of the Indian Ocean Region,'' and remains on the journal's editorial board. as well as being outgoing Foundation Chair of the Indian Ocean Research Group (IORG). He has taught and researched at the University of Western Australia, the University of Tokyo, Kyoto University and more recently at Curtin University where he was Professor of Indian Ocean Studies. Dennis Rumley has also had a strong association with the regional peak body – the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA). Shelby County is a county in the western portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 48,230. Its county seat is Sidney. Its name honors Isaac Shelby, first governor of Kentucky. Shelby County comprises the Sidney, OH Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Dayton- Springfield-Sidney, OH Combined Statistical Area. History The Algonquian-speaking Shawnee Native Americans had come into the area in the 18th century, displacing the Ojibwa-speaking Ottawa of the Anishinaabeg, a related language group who moved northwest. The Shawnee were joined by the Iroquois, Seneca and Mingo peoples as well, displaced by colonial encroachment to the east. In 1792 the European-American pioneer John Hardin was killed by the Shawnee in Shelby County. Early settlers named the first county seat of Hardin in his memory. Johnny Rumley
Johnny Rumley (born April 14, 1957) is an American former stock car racing driver. He won twice in the Busch Series, but has not been seen in the major leagues of NASCAR since 2000. Rumley made his debut at New River Valley Speedway in 1992. Rumley went out in his No. 25 Beverly Racing Olds and won the pole, and finished 10th in the race. Then, at the very next race at Orange County, Rumley managed a 9th-place finish. Rumley made five races in 1993, and only had one top-10 finish. Rumley scored what was considering an upset victory at Hickory, pulling his No. 00 Big Dog Coal Chevy into victory lane in just his seventh start. In addition, Rumley had two other top-20s in the season. Rumley returned in 1994, running thirteen races. He only earned two top-10s, back-to-back finishes of eighth in his first two-season starts. Rumley Township is one of the fifteen townships of Harrison County, Ohio, United States. As of the 2010 census the population was 1,471, of whom 779 lived in the unincorporated portion of the township. New Rumley is an unincorporated community in central Rumley Township, Harrison County, Ohio, United States. It is famous for being the birthplace of George Armstrong Custer. The Custer Memorial by Erwin Frey is located along State Route 646 on Rumley's west side. The memorial, consisting of a statue and an exhibit pavilion with information about his life, and a museum operated by the Custer Memorial Association is located at the site of his birthplace, of which only the foundations remain.
