Risalto
RisAlto is an international exposition of contemporary art that was organized annually in the medieval castle of Camino, Piedmont, between 2001 and 2010. The project is an idea of the artists Marco Porta and Mari Brignolo. Risalto was the first modern art exhibition in the world that presented mosaics reproduced exclusively in coloured rice. International artists were invited to design the mosaics, that were then produced by the creators of the event in collaboration with the artists. Technique The production of the mosaic is a long and complicated process that requires precision and patience. Every year the project starts with the invitation of some selected artists, whose task is to create a stub: usually a drawing or a painting or just criteria for the production of the mosaic. Omar Galliani
Omar Galliani (born 1954) is an Italian painter and a retired professor from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera (Brera Academy) in Milan. Life and career Omar Galliani graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna in Bologna. He taught as full professor of painting at the Brera Academy until he retired. In 1979, invited by Luciano Francalanci for the Italy section, he received the "Faber Castell Prize" at the first International Drawing Triennial at the Kunsthalle in Nuremberg. His works were shown at the Biennale of Venice in 1982, 1984 and 1986, in the São Paulo Biennials in Brazil and in Paris, in contemporary art museums in Japan and at the Bradford Biennial 7th British International Print (1982). Ugo Nespolo
Ugo Nespolo (born 29 August 1941 in Mosso, Biella) is an Italian artist, painter, sculptor, filmmaker and writer. He lives and works in Turin. Life and works Nespolo graduated at the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti of Turin with Enrico Paulucci and obtained a degree in Modern Literature at the University of Turin, with a thesis on Semiology. His career as an artist started in the 1960s. His work was influenced by Pop Art, which was becoming popular in Italy in those years, conceptual art, Arte Povera and Fluxus. He had a chance to see and appreciate closely these movements during a trip to the United States in 1967. Giorgio Griffa
Giorgio Griffa (born in Turin, 29 March 1936) is an Italian abstract painter living and working in Turin. Biography Giorgio Griffa never received a formal art education. He began painting as a child, taking lessons from local painters at the Circolo degli Artisti in Turin. After completing a degree in law in 1958, Griffa became a practicing lawyer. Enzo Cucchi (born 14 November 1949) is an Italian painter. A native of Morro d'Alba, province of Ancona, he was a key member of the Italian Transavanguardia movement, along with his countrymen Francesco Clemente, Mimmo Paladino, Nicola De Maria, and Sandro Chia.
