The Rance (; , ) is a river of northwestern France. It is long. The semi-tidal river flows into the English Channel between Dinard and Saint-Malo. Before reaching the Channel, its waters are barred by a 750 metre long dam forming the Rance tidal power plant. The river is linked to the Vilaine by means of the Canal d'Ille-et-Rance. Alex James Rance (born 9 October 1989) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Rance was a premiership player, five time All-Australian, a one time All-Australian captain, a one-time winner of Richmond's best-and-fairest award and is widely regarded as one of the greatest defenders of his era. Patrick Lowry Cole Holwell Rance (18 March 1918 – 22 August 1999) was a cheesemonger who has been considered responsible for saving many British specialist cheeses from extinction. He is known for writing ''The Great British Cheese Book'' (1982) and ''The French Cheese Book'' (1989). Murray Douglas Rance (born 25 January 1962) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Footscray and West Coast in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the late 1980s. He was a key position player and started his career at Swan Districts with whom he won three consecutive premierships starting in 1982. Major-General Sir Hubert Elvin Rance, (17 July 1898 – 24 January 1974) was a British politician who was the last Governor of British Burma between 1946 and 1948, during the transition from Japanese to British colonial administration. Charlie Rance
Charles Stanley Rance (28 February 1889 – 29 December 1966) was an English professional footballer who played for Clapton, Tottenham Hotspur, Derby County, Queens Park Rangers and Guildford United. Football career Rance won two FA Amateur Cup winners medals with Isthmian League club Clapton, in 1907 and 1909. In the latter final playing as a centre-forward, he scored a hat-trick and played alongside Walter Tull in the Clapton forward line. In 1910, Rance joined Tottenham from Clapton where he played as a centre half. He played a total of 110 matches and scored one goal for the club in all competitions. Rance Pless (December 6, 1925 – November 11, 2017) was an American professional baseball player. A third baseman, first baseman and outfielder over the course of a 14-year professional career, he played part of one season of Major League Baseball with the 1956 Kansas City Athletics. He threw and batted right-handed, stood tall and weighed . Pless was born in Greeneville, Tennessee. His career began in the New York Giants' minor league organization as an outfielder in 1947.
