Punto Cubano
Punto guajiro or ''punto cubano'' – or simply ''punto'' – is a sung genre of Music of Cuba, Cuban music, a poetic art with music. It became popular in the western and central regions of Cuba in the 17th century, and consolidated as a genre in the 18th century. It has Andalusian and Canary Islands origins, and it integrated African elements in Cuba. Description Punto is played by a group with various types of guitar: the Spanish guitar, the Cuban Tres (musical instrument), tres, the laúd and the tiple. The ''punto'' refers to the use of a pick (punteando), rather than strumming (rasgueado). There are three percussion instruments: the claves, clave, the güiro and the ''guayo'' (also a scraper, but of metal). Singers form themselves into teams, and improvise their lines. They sing, or chant, an unvarying melody, with intervals between stanzas to give the singers time to prepare the next verse. Music Of Cuba
The music of Cuba, including its instruments, performance, and dance, comprises a large set of unique traditions influenced mostly by west African and European (especially Spanish) music. Due to the syncretic nature of most of its genres, Cuban music is often considered one of the richest and most influential regional music in the world. For instance, the son cubano merges an adapted Spanish guitar (tres), melody, harmony, and lyrical traditions with Afro-Cuban percussion and rhythms. Almost nothing remains of the original native traditions, since the native population was exterminated in the 16th century. Since the 19th century, Cuban music has been hugely popular and influential throughout the world. San Miguel Del Padrón
San Miguel del Padrón is one of the 15 municipalities/boroughs (''municipios'' in Spanish) into which the city of Havana, Cuba is divided. It is on Havana's south-eastern outskirts, stretching from Ciudad Mar to Diezmero and from Reparto Mañana to Caballo Blanco. Madruga
Madruga () is a municipality and town in the Mayabeque Province of Cuba. It is located in the eastern part of the province, between Matanzas and Güines. It was founded in 1803. Geography In 1940, the municipality was divided into the barrios of Concordia and Cayajabos, Este, Itabo, Majagua, Oeste, Sabana de Robles and San Blas. Calabazar De Sagua
Calabazar de Sagua, also shortened as Calabazar, is a Cuban village and ''consejo popular'' ("people's council", i.e. hamlet) of the municipality of Encrucijada, in Villa Clara Province, Cuba. In 2011 it had a population of 7,912. History Founded in 1865, it was part of the neighboring municipality of Sagua la Grande until the 1977 administrative reform. Cienfuegos (), capital of Cienfuegos Province, is a city on the southern coast of Cuba. It is located about from Havana and has a population of 178,368 in 2022. San Antonio De Los Baños
San Antonio de los Baños is a municipality and town in the Artemisa Province of Cuba. It is located 26 km from the city of Havana, and the Ariguanabo River runs through it. It was founded in 1802. History There are 39 schools in the town, employing over 600 teachers. These schools include an academy of plastic arts, a school for training art teachers, and the International School of Cinema and Television Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión which was established in 1986. Matanzas
Matanzas (Cuban ; ) is the capital of the Cuban province of Matanzas Province, Matanzas. Camagüey
Camagüey () is a city and municipality in central Cuba and is the nation's third-largest city with more than 333,000 inhabitants. It is the capital of the Camagüey Province. It was founded as Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe in 1514, by Spanish colonists on the northern coast and moved inland in 1528, to the site of a Taino village named Camagüey. It was one of the seven original settlements (''villas'') founded in Cuba by the Spanish.
