Province Of Oristano
The province of Oristano (; ) is a Provinces of Italy, province in the autonomous island region of Sardinia, Italy. Its capital is the city of Oristano. There are 87 ''comuni'' (: ''comune'') in the province. It has an area of , a total population of 160,746 (2016), and a population density of 53.7 people per square kilometer. It is bordered with on the north by province of Sassari, on east by the province of Nuoro, on south by the province of South Sardinia and it is bathed from the Sea of Sardinia to the west. History The province of Oristano is the smallest province in Sardinia and was formed from sections of the provinces of Province of Cagliari, Cagliari and Nuoro. It occupies roughly the same area as the Judicate of Arborea, Giudicato of Arborea of the High Middle Ages. It borders Nuoro, Cagliari and the Sea of Sardinia. The Gulf of Oristano (, ) is a gulf in the Sardinian Sea, near Oristano, in the western Sardinian coast. It is limited from north by the Cape San Marco, in the Sinis peninsula, and from the south by Cape Frasca. It faces the provinces of Oristano and Medio Campidano. Near the gulf area several wetlands (such as the ''Stagno di Cabras'', the ''Stagno di Mistras '' and the ''Stagno di Santa Giusta''). Bosa is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Oristano (until May 2005 it was in the province of Nuoro), part of the Sardinia region of Italy. Bosa is situated about two-thirds of the way up the west coast of Sardinia, on a small hill, about inland on the north bank of the Temo River. It is the only town on the island of Sardinia built on the banks of a river. Cabras () is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Oristano in the Italian region of Sardinia, located about northwest of Cagliari and about northwest of Oristano. Cabras borders the following municipalities: Nurachi, Oristano, Riola Sardo. It is home to several churches - a parish church, in the Baroque style, and a Church of the Holy Spirit, dating to 1601 with two Gothic aisles. It is also home to the Phoenician archaeological site of Tharros. The municipal territory includes several beaches in the Sinis peninsula and on the Gulf of Oristano. Arborea is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Oristano, Sardinia, Italy, whose economy is largely based on agriculture and cattle breeding with production of vegetables, rice, fruit and milk (notably the local milk product Arborea).
