The Nuristanis, formerly known as Kafiristanis, are an ethnic group native to the Nuristan Province of northeastern Afghanistan and Chitral District of northwestern Pakistan. Their languages comprise the Nuristani branch of Indo-Iranian languages. The Nuristanis reside mainly in the northeast of Afghanistan and northwest of Pakistan; between the Pashtun tribes of Kunar, Kalash in Pakistan's Chitral, and Tajiks of Badakhshan in the north. In the mid-1890s, after the establishment of the Durand Line when Afghanistan reached an agreement on various frontier areas to the British Empire for period of time, Emir Abdur Rahman Khan conducted a military campaign in Kafiristan and followed up his conquest with forced conversion of the Kafirs to Islam; the region thenceforth being known as ''Nuristan'', the "Land of Light". Posh is a software framework used in cross-platform software development. It was created by Brian Hook. It is BSD licensed and at version 1.3.002. The Posh software framework provides a header file and an optional C source file. Posh does not provide alternatives where a host platform does not offer a feature, but informs through preprocessor macros what is supported and what is not. It sets macros to assist in compiling with various compilers (such as GCC, MSVC and OpenWatcom), and different host endiannesses. In its simplest form, only a single header file is required. In the optional C source file, there are functions for byte swapping and in-memory serialisation/deserialisation. Brian Hook also created SAL (Simple Audio Library) that utilises Posh. Both are featured in his book "Write Portable Code". Posh is also used in Ferret and Vega Strike. The album was recently re-released on Wounded Bird Records, as were several other Rushen albums from the time. "Posh!" is an up tempo song and musical number from the popular 1968 Albert R. Broccoli motion picture, ''Chitty Chitty Bang Bang''. It is written by the songwriting team of Sherman & Sherman. It makes reference to the myth that the word "posh" is an acronym for " Port Out, Starboard Home". In the film it is sung when "Grandpa Potts" (played by Lionel Jeffries) is being carried away in his outhouse. He sees the situation as serendipitous until he finally meets his kidnapper, Baron Bomburst in Vulgaria. Bacha posh ( fa, بچه پوش, literally "dressed up as a boy") is a practice in Afghanistan and parts of Pakistan in which some families without sons will pick a daughter to live and behave as a boy. This enables the child to behave more freely: attending school, escorting her sisters in public, and working.
