__NOTOC__ The Port of Kiel () is a port for passenger and cargo shipping located in Kiel, Germany. It occupies the inner part of the Baltic Sea inlet Kieler Förde and includes the approach to the locks at the eastern end of Kiel Canal. Harbours The port offers sheltered harbours, large turning basins, and deep water berths. Inner Harbour At the southern end of Kieler Förde lies the ''Inner Harbour'' () with passenger terminals ''Ostseekai'' and ''Schwedenkai'' in the west and ''Norwegenkai'' on the eastern side. Kiel
Kiel ( ; ) is the capital and most populous city in the northern Germany, German state of Schleswig-Holstein. With a population of around 250,000, it is Germany's largest city on the Baltic Sea. Mole (architecture)
A mole is a massive structure, usually of stone, used as a pier, breakwater, or a causeway separating two bodies of water. ''Stena Germanica'' is a large cruiseferry operated by Stena Line between Gothenburg and Kiel, together with MS ''Stena Scandinavica'' (2002). Between 2001 and 2010, as ''Stena Hollandica'' she operated on the Harwich to Hook of Holland service. History ''Stena Germanica'' was built by Astilleros Españoles shipyard in Puerto Real, Spain. Puttgarden Station
Puttgarden station is a major ferry terminal on the Vogelfluglinie (bird flight line) on the island of Fehmarn in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. It lies between the town of Puttgarden and Marienleuchte. All rail traffic was discontinued on 31 August 2022. Until 2019, it primarily served the needs of international long distance traffic between Hamburg and Copenhagen, and in 2020-2022 regional traffic to Lübeck. Rail traffic is expected to restart in 2029, but not have stops for passengers in Puttgarden.
