Popular Music In Russia
Russian pop music is Russian language pop music produced in Russia, Commonwealth of Independent States#Member states, CIS countries, Baltic states, Central Asia and other foreign countries in which the songs are primarily performed in Russian language, languages of the countries of the CIS, and in the other languages of the world. This is the successor to popular "variety" Music of the Soviet Union, Soviet music with its Pop icon, pop idols such as Alla Pugacheva or Valery Leontiev. The first hit parade in the USSR was the ZD Awards, ZD hit parade. Since the creation of the hit parade to the present day, it has identified the most popular artists, as well as popular albums and singles in Russia and other countries of the Post-Soviet states, former USSR. Traditional Pop
Traditional pop (also known as vocal pop or pre-rock and roll pop) is Western culture, Western pop music that generally pre-dates the advent of rock and roll in the mid-1950s. The most popular and enduring songs from this era of music are known as pop standards or American standards. The post-Soviet states, also referred to as the former Soviet Union or the former Soviet republics, are the independent sovereign states that emerged/re-emerged from the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. Prior to their independence, they existed as Republics of the Soviet Union, Union Republics, which were the top-level constituents of the Soviet Union. Sofiia Mykhailivna Yevdokymenko-Rotaru ( ; ; ; born 7 August 1947), known simply as Sofia Rotaru, is a Ukrainian pop singer of Romanian origin.
