Pica (disorder)
Pica ("PIE-kuh"; IPA: /ˈpaɪkə/) is the craving or consumption of objects that are not normally intended to be consumed. It is classified as an eating disorder but can also be the result of an existing mental disorder. The ingested or craved substance may be biological, natural, or manmade. The term was drawn directly from the medieval Latin word for magpie, a bird subject to much folklore regarding its opportunistic feeding behaviors. According to the '' Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition'' (DSM-5), pica as a standalone eating disorder must persist for more than one month at an age when eating such objects is considered developmentally inappropriate, not part of culturally sanctioned practice, and sufficiently severe to warrant clinical attention. Tina Pica (31 March 1884 – 15 August 1968) was an Italian supporting actress who played character roles on stage. Her film debut came in 1935 with '' The Three-Cornered Hat''. Píča (), sometimes short piča or pyča /, is a Czech language, Czech and Slovak language, Slovak profanity that refers to the vagina similar to the English language, English word cunt. It is often represented as a symbol of a spearhead, a rhombus standing on one of its sharper points with a vertical line in the middle, representing a vulva. The meaning is clear for Czech people, Czechs, Slovak people, Slovaks and Hungarian people, Hungarians. In some other languages it has other spellings (e.g. in the non-Slavic Hungarian language it is written as "picsa"), but has similar pronunciation and carries the same meaning and profanity. A ''picador'' (; pl. ''picadores'') is one of the pair of horse-mounted bullfighters in a Spanish-style bullfight that jab the bull with a lance. They perform in the ''tercio de varas'', which is the first of the three stages in a stylized bullfight. Function The ''picador'' has three main functions in a traditional bullfight: * To pierce the muscle on the back of the bull's neck in order to straighten the bull's charge. * To fatigue the bull's neck muscles and general stamina as it tries to lift the horse with its head. * To lower the bull's head in preparation for the next stage. The M6100 PICA is a system logic chipset designed by Acer Laboratories introduced in 1993. ''PICA'' stands for ''Performance-enhanced Input-output and CPU Architecture''. It was based on the Jazz architecture developed by Microsoft and supported the MIPS Technologies R4000 or R4400 microprocessors. The chipset was designed for computers that run Windows NT, and therefore used ARC firmware to boot Windows NT. The chipset consisted of six chips: a CPU and secondary cache controller, a buffer, a I/O cache and bus controller, a memory controller, and two data buffers. Pica, Cumbria
Distington () is a large village and civil parish in Cumbria, England, south of Workington and north of Whitehaven. Historically a part of Cumberland, the civil parish includes the nearby settlements of Common End, Gilgarran and Pica. The parish had a population of 2,247 in the 2001 census, increasing slightly to 2,256 at the 2011 census. South of the village by the Lowca Beck are the fragmentary remains of Hayes Castle, a manor house fortified by Robert de Leyburn in 1322.
