Pejorative Suffix
A pejorative suffix is a suffix that attaches a negative meaning to the word or word-stem preceding it. There is frequent overlap between this and the diminutive form. The pejorative suffix may add the sense of "a despicable example of the preceding," as in Spanish ''-ejo'' (see below). It can also convey the sense of "a despicable human having the preceding characteristic"; for instance, as in English ''-el'' (see below) or the development of the word ''cuckold'' from Old French ''cocu'' "cuckoo" + ''-ald'', taken into Anglo-Saxon as ''cokewald'' and thus to the modern English word. In linguistics, a suffix is an affix which is placed after the stem of a word. Common examples are case endings, which indicate the grammatical case of nouns, adjectives, and verb endings, which form the conjugation of verbs. Festejo
''Festejo'' (from Spanish 'fiesta') is a festive form of Afro-Peruvian music. The dance is a staple in the Black coastal populations and it celebrates the emancipation of slaves. Festejo is recognized for its high energy and the improvisation carried out by the dancers. Some believe that its origins trace back to competitive dance circles performed by individuals playing cajóns. Despite its African origins, people of all different backgrounds participate in the dance that many regards as one of the greatest representations of Peruvian culture. Nigger
In the English language, the word ''nigger'' is an ethnic slur used against black people, especially African Americans. Kolyma
Kolyma (russian: Колыма́, ) is a region located in the Russian Far East. It is bounded to the north by the East Siberian Sea and the Arctic Ocean, and by the Sea of Okhotsk to the south. Stilyagi ( rus, стиляги, p=sʲtʲɪˈlʲæɡʲɪ, "stylish, style hunters") were members of a youth counterculture from the late 1940s until the early 1960s in the Soviet Union. A stilyaga ( rus, стиляга, p=sʲtʲɪˈlʲaɡə) was primarily distinguished by snappy clothing—preferably foreign-label, acquired from ''fartsovshchiks'' (those who engage in ''fartsovka'') —that contrasted with the communist realities of the time, and a fascination with '' zagranitsa'', modern Western music and fashions corresponding to those of the Beat Generation. A diminutive is a root word that has been modified to convey a slighter degree of its root meaning, either to convey the smallness of the object or quality named, or to convey a sense of intimacy or endearment.
