Papal Secretary
The Prefecture of the Papal Household (''Prefettura della Casa Pontificia'') is the office in charge of the Papal Household, a section of the Roman Curia containing the Papal Chapel (''Cappella Pontificia'') and the Papal Family (''Familia Pontificia''). The position of prefect has been vacant since Archbishop Georg Gänswein concluded his service on 28 February 2023. Dino Monduzzi
Dino Monduzzi, ComC, GCIH, ComIH (2 April 1922 – 13 October 2006) was an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church. He was Prefect of the Prefecture of the Papal Household from 1986 to 1998. Biography He was born in 1922 to Damiano and Ida (née Ragazzini) Monduzzi in Brisighella, Italy. Monduzzi was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Giuseppe Battaglia of Faenza on 22 July 1945. He celebrated his first Mass the next day, and after this studies at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome earning a licentiate in utroque iure. After involvement in Catholic Action missions, Father Monduzzi began work for the Holy See in the late 1950s as an adjunct (and later secretary) in the Prefecture of the Papal Household, which among other duties arranges papal audiences. Jacques-Paul Martin (26 August 1908 – 27 September 1992) was a French people, French Catholic Church, Roman Catholic Cardinal (Catholicism), cardinal, raised to the cardinalate in 1988. Education and progression through the Church Martin received his education at the University of Strasbourg, where he obtained a Licentiate (degree), licentiate in Letters. Mario Nasalli Rocca Di Corneliano
Mario Nasalli Rocca di Corneliano (12 August 1903 – 9 November 1988) was an Italian cardinal of the Catholic Church. He served as Prefect of the Apostolic Palace from 1967 until his death, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1969. Biography Nasalli Rocca di Corneliano was born in Piacenza to Count Camillo Nasalli Rocca and Marchioness Caterina Taffini d'Accegliano. His father died when Mario was a child, and his uncle was Giovanni Nasalli Rocca di Corneliano, who was later Archbishop of Bologna. Nasalli Rocca studied at the Pontifical Roman Seminary, Pontifical Roman Athenaeum S. Apollinare, and the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy before being ordained to the priesthood on 8 April 1927. Federico Callori di Vignale (15 December 1890 – 10 August 1971) was an Italian Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Master of the Sacred Apostolic Palace from 1958 to 1965 and was made a cardinal in 1965. Giovanni Tacci Porcelli known as Giovanni Tacci (12 November 1863 – 30 June 1928) was an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church who was Bishop of Città della Pieve for twenty years, then a papal ambassador, and finally secretary of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches from 1922 to 1927. Rafael Merry Del Val
Rafael Merry del Val y Zulueta, (10 October 1865 – 26 February 1930) was a Spanish Catholic bishop, Vatican official, and cardinal. Before becoming a cardinal, he served as the secretary of the papal conclave of 1903 that elected Pope Pius X, who is said to have accepted his election through Merry del Val's encouragement. Pius X later appointed him as the Cardinal Secretary of State. Merry del Val's writings and example prompted greater popularity for the Litany of Humility, which was for some decades incorrectly attributed to him. He was greatly responsible to restoring the privileges to Hispanic countries, which honor him for the devotions and traditionalist practices he fostered by personally signing and executing their petitions to the Holy Office.
