O-Town (also known as OTWN or OTOWN) is an American boy band formed from the first season of the reality television series ''Making the Band'' in 2000. As of 2015, the group consists of Erik-Michael Estrada, Trevor Penick, Jacob Underwood, and Dan Miller. The original line up included Ashley Parker Angel. Ikaika Kahoano was originally part of the band but was replaced by Miller after dropping out of the group. After releasing two albums near the end of the boy band fad of the late 1990s and early 2000s, the group disbanded in 2003. ''O-Town'' is the debut studio album released by American boy band O-Town. It was released on January 23, 2001, in the United States by J Records, Trans Continental Records, and BMG. Background The album was first released on January 23, 2001, in the United States. It contained a total of twelve tracks. Around this time, the album was also released in Japan, with two bonus remixes exclusively for the market. In March 2001, the band were asked into the studio to record a song for the ''Dr. Dolittle 2'' soundtrack. The track, "We Fit Together", featured on the soundtrack, released in June 2001. Following the release of the single "All or Nothing", the album was released in Europe and the United Kingdom on August 6, 2001, complete with "We Fit Together" as a bonus track, bringing the number of tracks to thirteen. Ashley Parker Angel
Ashley Parker Angel is an American musician and actor who rose to prominence as a member of the boyband O-Town. After the band dissolved he had a brief solo music career, and was the only former band member who declined to go on a reunion tour with O-Town in 2011. Parker Angel has acted in several Broadway productions since 2007, and most recently appeared in '' Wicked'' as the lead male character Fiyero Tigelaar. Early years Ashley Parker Angel is the child of Darren and Paula Parker. His grandparents are of German and Irish descent. Ashley was named after the fictional character Ashley Wilkes, his mother's favorite character from Margaret Mitchell's 1936 novel '' Gone with the Wind'', and the classic film of the same title. Boy Band
A boy band is loosely defined as a vocal group consisting of young male singers, usually in their teenage years or in their twenties at the time of formation. Generally, boy bands perform love songs marketed towards girls and young women. Many boy bands dance as well as sing, usually giving highly choreographed performances. ''Hairspray'' is an American musical with music by Marc Shaiman and lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, with a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, based on John Waters's 1988 film of the same name. The songs include 1960s-style dance music and "downtown" rhythm and blues. Set in 1962 Baltimore, Maryland, the production follows teenage Tracy Turnblad's dream to dance on ''The Corny Collins Show'', a local TV dance program based on the real-life '' Buddy Deane Show''. ''Soundtrack to Your Life'' is the only studio album by singer Ashley Parker Angel. It is a departure from his former band O-Town, making it both Angel's and Blackground Records' only rock release. It was released on May 16, 2006, and debuted #5 on the ''Billboard'' 200 albums chart after selling more than 72,000 copies in its first week. By July 11, 2006, the album had sold nearly 150,000 copies in the US.
