The Socialist Workers Organisation () was a Trotskyist organisation in Senegal. It was founded in France by Sally Ndongo and Babacar Doudou in 1973, with the name Grouping of Revolutionary Workers (''Groupement des Ouvriers Révolutionnaires'', GOR). They had previously been members of the first post-war Trotskyist organisation in Senegal, the Workers Avant-Garde, which had collapsed soon after expelling them. The GOR split in 1976, with a minority who had called for class struggle to be placed ahead of national liberation forming the Communist Workers League (LCT). The majority maintained the GOR, and in 1977 started activities inside Senegal. The Order of the Solar Temple (, OTS), or simply the Solar Temple, was a new religious movement and secret society, often described as a cult, notorious for the mass deaths of many of its members in several mass murders and suicides throughout the 1990s. The OTS was a neo-Templar order, claiming to be a continuation of the Knights Templar, and incorporated an eclectic range of beliefs with aspects of Rosicrucianism, Theosophy, and New Age ideas. The Office of Science and Technology (OST), later (briefly) named the Office of Science and Innovation, was a non-ministerial government department of the British government between 1992 and 2007. The office was responsible for co-ordination of the government's science and technology related activities and policies, and the distribution of some £2.4 billion among the seven UK Research Councils. Chris Douglas (musician)
Chris Douglas (born 4 August 1974), known primarily for his work as O.S.T., is an electronic musician from San Francisco, California. He is noted for helping to develop the style of music that came to be known as intelligent dance music (IDM). History Douglas was introduced to the all-night rave party scene in 1990. This inspired him to start to DJ and make tracks, and at just sixteen he began throwing the first Techno/ Ambient parties in San Francisco. At the age of 17, Douglas left for Detroit to find creative freedom. While there he worked with several of his heroes; Mike Banks of the fabled Underground Resistance and the late James Stinson of Drexciya. Adopting the pseudonym O.S.T., Douglas recorded his first EP for the Detroit-based Switch Records in 1992.
