Radio Format
A radio format or programming format (not to be confused with broadcast programming) describes the overall content broadcast on a radio station. The radio format emerged mainly in the United States in the 1950s, at a time when Radio broadcasting, radio was compelled to develop new and exclusive ways to programming by competition with Television broadcasting, television. The formula has since spread as a reference for commercial radio programming worldwide. A radio format aims to reach a more or less specific audience according to a certain type of programming, which can be thematic or general, more informative or more musical, among other possibilities. Radio formats are often used as a marketing tool and are subject to frequent changes, including temporary changes called "Stunting (broadcasting), stunting." Canadian content (abbreviated CanCon, cancon or can-con; ) refers to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) requirements, derived from the Broadcasting Act of Canada, that radio and television broadcasters (including cable and satellite specialty channels, and since the passing of the '' Online Streaming Act'', Internet-based video services) must produce and broadcast a certain percentage of content that was at least partly written, produced, presented, or otherwise contributed to by persons from Canada. CanCon also refers to that content itself, and, more generally, to cultural and creative content that is Canadian in nature. Jovem Pan FM is a large Brazilian Radio Network, with 25 million listeners and 87 broadcasters, it is the largest FM radio network in Brazil, Latin America and the Southern Hemisphere, and is also one of the largest radio stations on the planet. The name is derived from the word ''jovem'', which means "young", and ''Pan''-american. BandNews FM is a Brazilian all-news radio network owned by Grupo Bandeirantes de Comunicação. First broadcast on May 20, 2005, it is the first Brazilian radio network that provides non-stop news programming 24 hours a day, considering that CBN does intersperse news with talk shows. The network's format consisted of 20-minute rotating newscasts with 3 of these minutes allocated for analysis and opinion from the anchors and columnists. The vast majority of its programming is produced and broadcast live from São Paulo. Central Brasileira de Notícias (), or Rádio CBN for short, is a Brazilian news radio network, jointly owned by Sistema Globo de Rádio (Grupo Globo's radio division). It was created on 1 October 1991 as the first all news project on FM radio in Brazil, and broadcast news 24 hours a day. Nowadays, Rádio CBN has four owned-and-operated stations in the cities of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Belo Horizonte and Brasília. It also has 40 affiliate stations throughout the country. Brian Carlton (born 27 December 1962) is an Australian radio announcer, producer and journalist. He is known professionally as The Spoonman. Biography Carlton was born in Australia, into a Catholic household. He grew up in Beacon Hill on Sydney's Northern Beaches, finishing high school in 1980. ''The Spoonman'' was an Australian late night talk back show hosted by radio personality Brian Carlton. Carlton is known professionally as "Spoonman". The show ran from 1998 to 2008, and was rebooted in 2019. The Show The original version of the show was broadcast from the Austereo studios, Sydney and networked to Triple M stations across Australia.
