Neuticles
Neuticles are prosthetic testicle, prosthetic testicular implants for neutering, neutered dogs and other domestic animals. The implants may be made of polypropylene or silicone. History Gregg Miller developed the idea for Neuticles after his bloodhound, Buck, was castrated to stop his wandering. Miller, along with a veterinarian, patented the procedure for implanting Neuticles. To sell his idea, Miller established the Canine Testicular Implant Corporation. The first commercial Neuticles were implanted in 1995. Miller won the 2005 Ig Nobel Prize, Ig Nobel Prize in Medicine, a parody of the real Nobel Prize, for the invention of Neuticles. The typical pair costs about $310. The company has produced customized prosthetic testicles, such as a $2800 watermelon-sized set for an elephant. Miller said he sold more than 500,000 sets of Neuticles in his first 20 years of business. The company states that humans cannot legally get Neuticle implants. Veterinary Castration
Castration is any action, surgical, chemical, or otherwise, by which a male loses use of the testicles: the male gonad. Surgical castration is bilateral orchiectomy (excision of both testicles), while chemical castration uses pharmaceutical drugs to deactivate the testes. Some forms of castration cause sterilization (permanently preventing the castrated person or animal from reproducing); it also greatly reduces the production of hormones, such as testosterone and estrogen. Surgical castration in animals is often called neutering. The parallel of castration for female animals is spaying. Castration may also refer medically to oophorectomy in female humans and animals. The term ''castration'' may also be sometimes used to refer to emasculation where both the testicles ''and'' the penis are removed together. In some cultures, an ...
