Neoavanguardia
The Neoavanguardia ("New Vanguard") was a postmodern avant-garde literature of Italy, Italian literary movement oriented towards radical forms of experimentation with language and art. Some of its most prominent members include Nanni Balestrini, Edoardo Sanguineti, Umberto Eco, Antonio Porta (author), Antonio Porta, Elio Pagliarani, Lucia Di Luciano, Alfredo Giuliani, Giorgio Manganelli, Luigi Malerba, Germano Lombardi, Francesco Leonetti, Alberto Gozzi, Massimo Ferretti, Franco Lucentini, Giovanni Pizzo, Amelia Rosselli, Sebastiano Vassalli, Patrizia Vicinelli and Lello Voce. The movement originated as Gruppo '63, during a meeting of contributors to the literary magazine ''Il Verri'' in a hotel at Solunto, near Palermo. Luigi Malerba
Luigi Malerba (11 November 1927 – 8 May 2008), born Luigi Bonardi, was an Italian author known for his short stories, historical novels, and screenplays. He was a prominent figure in the Neoavanguardia movement and co-founded ''Gruppo 63'', a literary collective influenced by Marxism and Structuralism. Some of his most renowned works include La scoperta dell'alfabeto, The Serpent, What Is This Buzzing, Do You Hear It Too?, Dopo il pescecane, Testa d'argento, Il fuoco greco, Le pietre volanti, Roman Ghosts, and Ithaca Forever: Penelope Speaks. Nanni Balestrini
Nanni Balestrini (2 July 1935 – 19 May 2019) was an Italian experimental poet, author and visual artist of the Neoavanguardia movement. Context Nanni Balestrini is associated with the Italian writers' movement Neoavanguardia. He wrote for the magazine '' Il Verri'', founded and co-directed the now-defunct '' Alfabeta'' and was one of the Italian writers published in the anthology '' I Novissimi'' (1961). Balestrini was born in Milan. During the 1960s, as the group was growing and becoming the Gruppo 63, Balestrini was the editor of their publications. From 1962 to 1972, he was working for Feltrinelli, cooperating with the publishers and editing some issues of the ''Cooperativa Scrittori''. Sebastiano Vassalli
Sebastiano Vassalli (24 October 1941 – 26 July 2015) was an Italian author. He wrote the 2007 novel ''The Italian (L'italiano)''. Vassalli was born in Genoa, Italy in 1941. His mother was from Tuscany and his father was from Lombardy. At a very young age, he was abandoned to relatives in Novara for some flour and oil. He went on to complete his Bachelor of arts degree in Milan. Antonio Porta (author)
Antonio Porta (pen-name of Leo Paolazzi) was an Italian author and poet and one of the founders of the Italian literary movement Gruppo 63. Biography Antonio Porta was born Leo Paolazzi in Vicenza in 1935. In 1958, he became an editor of the literary magazine '' Il Verri'' under Luciano Anceschi. Giorgio Manganelli (15 November 1922 – 28 May 1990) was an Italian journalist, avant-garde writer, translator and literary critic. ''Il Verri'' is a quarterly literary magazine, which has been published since 1956. The magazine is based in Milan, Italy. Francesco Leonetti
Francesco Leonetti (27 January 1924 – 17 December 2017) was an Italian poet, novelist, art critic, teacher and political activist. Biography Leonetti was born in Cosenza in Calabria. In 1955 he moved to Bologna to study philosophy. There he met Pier Paolo Pasolini and Roberto Roversi, and together they co-founded the magazine ''Officina''. Lello Voce (born in Naples, Italy, in 1957) is an Italian poet, writer, and journalist. He was among the founders of Gruppo 93 and of the six-monthly literary magazine ''Baldus''. Edoardo Sanguineti (9 December 1930 – 18 May 2010) was a Genoese poet, writer and academic, universally considered one of the major Italian authors of the second half of the twentieth century. Biography In 1956, Sanguineti published his first poetry collection, Laborintus. The author adopted a “labyrinthine” structure in these poems, preceding the poetic sperimentalism that characterized the 1960s. During the 1960s, he was a leader of the neo-avant-garde '' Gruppo 63'' movement, founded in 1963 at Solunto. His work was published in the first issue of 0 to 9 magazine in 1967.
