Murki
Murki is a short taan or inverted mordent in Hindustani classical music, known as ''pratyahatam'' in Carnatic music. It is a fast and delicate ornamentation or '' alankar'', employing two or more notes and is similar to a mordent or ''ulta murki''. A murki is less forceful than a khatka or a zamzama. A combination like R R S S could be a ''murki'' or a ''khatka'' or the starting point of a ''zamzama'', depending on the force of delivery. ''Murki''s may or may not be appropriate for a given raga. Taan
''Taan'' (Hindi: , ) is a technique used in the vocal performance of a raga in Hindustani classical music. It involves the improvisation of very rapid melodic passages using vowels, often the long "a" as in the word "far", and it targets at improvising and to expand weaving together the notes in a fast tempo. It is similar to the technique ''ahaat'', used in Arabic music, or like an arpeggio in Western music. In music, a mordent is an ornament indicating that the note is to be played with ''a single'' rapid alternation with the note above or below. Like trills, they can be chromatically modified by a small flat, sharp or natural accidental. Zamzama (Urdu)
Zamzama is a Persian word meaning "Thunder," or "Roar", but it can also mean "murmur" or "whisper to oneself". As with many Arabic and Persian words, it has been taken into Urdu and is now considered indigenous to that language. The meaning is: addition of notes. Zamzama is a type of Alankar{{citation needed, date=February 2012) and part of the note ornamentation in Indian classical music. Like a khatka, another type of Alankara, ''zamzama'' is a cluster of notes, which is used by the musician to embellish the landing note. A raga ( ; , ; ) is a melodic framework for improvisation in Indian classical music akin to a musical mode, melodic mode. It is central to classical Indian music. Thumri
Thumri () is a vocal genre or style of Indian music. The term "thumri" is derived from the Hindi verb ''thumuknaa'', which means "to walk with a dancing gait in such a way that the ankle-bells tinkle." The form is, thus, connected with dance, dramatic gestures, mild eroticism, evocative love poetry and folk songs, especially from Uttar Pradesh, though there are regional variations.
