Tree peony is the vernacular name for the section ''Moutan'' of the plant genus '' Paeonia'', or one of the species or cultivars belonging to this section. A shrub (often also called a bush) is a small-to-medium-sized perennial woody plant. Unlike herbaceous plants, shrubs have persistent woody stems above the ground. ''Paeonia ludlowii'', is a medium high, deciduous shrub, belonging to the peonies, that is endemic to southeast Tibet. In Tibet it is known as lumaidao meaning "God’s flower".
