Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System
The Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS) is a flight stabilizing feature developed by Boeing that became notorious for its role in two fatal accidents of the Boeing 737 MAX, 737 MAX in 2018 and 2019, which killed all 346 passengers and crew among both flights. Because the CFM International LEAP engine used on the 737 MAX was larger and mounted further forward from the wing and higher off the ground than on previous generations of the 737, Boeing discovered that the aircraft had a tendency to push the nose up when operating in a specific portion of the flight envelope (flaps up, high angle of attack, manual flight). MCAS was intended to mimic the flight behavior of the previous Boeing 737 Next Generation. The company indicated that this change eliminated the need for pilots to have Simulation cockpit, simulator training on the new aircraft. After the fatal crash of Lion Air Flight 610 in 2018, Boeing and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) referred pilo ...

Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System
The Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment system, commonly abbreviated as MCAS , is Massachusetts's statewide standards-based assessment program developed in 1993 in response to the Massachusetts Education Reform Act of the same year. State and federal law mandates that all students who are enrolled in the tested grades and who are educated with Massachusetts public funds participate in MCAS testing. If necessary, students are given multiple opportunities to take the test to maximize the chance that said student will pass the exam. In 2024, a ballot question was passed that made MCAS no longer a high school graduation requirement. Grade Levels Students take different tests according to their grade level. In addition to these tests, students may be required to take tryouts and pilot tests. The following list is current as of spring 2017. It is required for a student to pass the English Language Arts, Mathematics and Science and Technology/Engineering portions of the Grade 10 ...

Mast Cell Activation Syndrome
Mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) one of two types of mast cell activation disorder (MCAD); the other type is idiopathic MCAD. MCAS is an immunological condition in which mast cells, a type of white blood cell, inappropriately and excessively release chemical mediators, such as histamine, resulting in a range of chronic symptoms, sometimes including anaphylaxis or near-anaphylaxis attacks. Primary symptoms include cardiovascular, dermatological, gastrointestinal, neurological, and respiratory problems. Signs and symptoms Because degranulation events can be triggered in various locations within the body, MCAS can present with a wide range of symptoms in multiple body systems. These symptoms may range from digestive discomfort to chronic pain, mental issues, or full-scale anaphylactic reactions. Symptoms typically wax and wane over time, varying in severity and duration.
