The Main Moscow derby () is the name of the association football local derby between two Moscow based teams – Spartak and CSKA. Both Spartak and CSKA fans (they often call each other "Svinie" (pigs) and "Koni" (horses) respectively) have recognized each other as rivals. History The first derby between Spartak and CSKA (at that time known as MKS and OLLS respectively) took place on 1 June 1922. The OLLS won 4–2. Soviet Cup
The Soviet Cup, or USSR Cup (),, , , (Moldovan Cyrillic: Купа УРСС), , , . was the premier football cup competition in the Soviet Union conducted by the Football Federation of the Soviet Union. The 1991–92 season of the tournament was known as Soviet/CIS Cup (). As a knockout tournament it was conducted parallel to the All-Union league competitions in double round-robin format. The winner of the competition was awarded a qualification to the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, unless it already qualified for the European Cup, in turn passed the qualification to the finalist. The Oldest Russian derby () is a football rivalry played between Moscow rivals FC Spartak Moscow and FC Dynamo Moscow. The derby became less intense as Dynamo Moscow has not won a title since 1976 and only once succeeded in domestic competitions since the fall of the Soviet Union. Moscow Basketball Derby is the name given to professional basketball games between PBC CSKA Moscow, CSKA Moscow of Moscow, and BC Khimki, Khimki Moscow Region, from Khimki in Moscow Oblast. It is considered to be the biggest local derby, rivalry in Russian basketball. Until 2016, there was also a third Moscow-based basketball club, MBC Dynamo Moscow, Dynamo Moscow, which had an even bigger local derby with CSKA, as the two teams were from Moscow city itself. Sergei Salnikov
Sergei Sergeyevich Salnikov (; 13 September 1925 – 9 May 1984) was a Russian footballer who played for Zenit Leningrad, Spartak Moscow and Dynamo Moscow. He was part of the Soviet Union national team that won the gold medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics. Club career After two years with Zenit Leningrad, during which he scored against Spartak Moscow in the semifinal of the 1944 Soviet Cup, which Zenit ultimately won, Salnikov joined Spartak as a 21-year-old in 1946. He won the Cup with Spartak in 1946 and 1947. Salnikov scored two goals and made another in the final match of the 1949 season against Dynamo Moscow, when Spartak narrowly missed out on the Soviet Top League title in a 5–4 defeat that some consider the greatest match of the era. The Russian Cup () is a football competition held annually by the Football Union of Russia for professional and some amateur (only after a special permission and licensing by Russian Football Union) football clubs. The winner of the competition ordinarily got a spot in the UEFA Europa League first qualifying round. However, all Russian clubs, as well as the national team, have been barred from European competition due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The Russian Premier League (RPL; , ''Rossiyskaya premyer-liga''; РПЛ), also written as Russian Premier Liga, is a professional association football league in Russia and the highest level of the Russian football league system. The Soviet Top League, known after 1970 as the Higher League (), served as the top division (tier) of Soviet Union football from 1936 until 1991. The league's name was a conditional designation used for brevity since being completely owned and governed by the All-Union Committee of Physical Culture (an institution of the Council of People's Commissars of the Soviet Union). The winner of the competition was awarded the All-Union Committee banner.
