LaMia
Lamia (; ), in ancient Greek mythology, was a child-eating monster and, in later tradition, was regarded as a type of night-haunting spirit or "daimon". In the earliest myths, Lamia was a beautiful queen of ancient Libya who had an affair with Zeus and gave birth to his children. Upon learning of this, Zeus's wife Hera robbed Lamia of her children, either by kidnapping them and hiding them away, killing them outright, or forcing Lamia to kill them. The loss of her children drove Lamia insane, and she began hunting and devouring others' children. Either because of her anguish or her cannibalism, Lamia was transformed into a horrific creature. Zeus gifted Lamia the power of prophecy and the ability to take out and reinsert her eyes, possibly because Hera cursed her with insomnia or the inability to close her eyes. The ''lamiai'' () also became a type of phantom, synonymous with the empusai who seduced young men to satisfy their sexual appetite and fed on their flesh afterward. An ...

Lenders Mortgage Insurance
Lenders mortgage insurance (LMI), also known as private mortgage insurance (PMI) in the US, is a type of insurance payable to a lender or to a trustee for a pool of securities that may be required when taking out a mortgage loan. Its purpose is to offset losses in the case where a mortgagor is not able to repay the loan and the lender is not able to recover its costs after foreclosure and sale of the mortgaged property. Mortgage insurance in the US The annual cost of PMI varies and is expressed in terms of the total loan value in most cases, depending on the loan term, loan type, proportion of the total home value that is financed, the coverage amount, and the frequency of premium payments (monthly, annual, or single). The PMI may be payable up front, or it may be capitalized onto the loan in the case of single premium product. This type of insurance is usually only required if the downpayment is 20% or less of the sales price or appraised value (in other words, if the loan-to-v ...

Leo Minor
Leo Minor is a small and faint constellation in the northern celestial hemisphere. Its name is Latin for "the smaller lion", in contrast to Leo, the larger lion. It lies between the larger and more recognizable Ursa Major to the north and Leo to the south. Leo Minor was not regarded as a separate constellation by classical astronomers; it was designated by Johannes Hevelius in 1687. There are 37 stars brighter than apparent magnitude 6.5 in the constellation; three are brighter than magnitude 4.5. 46 Leonis Minoris, an orange giant of magnitude 3.8, is located some 95 light-years from Earth. At magnitude 4.4, Beta Leonis Minoris is the second-brightest star and the only one in the constellation with a Bayer designation. It is a binary star, the brighter component of which is an orange giant and the fainter a yellow-white main sequence star. The third-brightest star is 21 Leonis Minoris, a rapidly rotating white main-sequence star of avera ...

Linear Matrix Inequality
In convex optimization, a linear matrix inequality (LMI) is an expression of the form : \operatorname(y):=A_0+y_1A_1+y_2A_2+\cdots+y_m A_m\succeq 0\, where * y= _i\,,~i\!=\!1,\dots, m/math> is a real vector, * A_0, A_1, A_2,\dots,A_m are n\times n symmetric matrices \mathbb^n, * B\succeq0 is a generalized inequality meaning B is a positive semidefinite matrix belonging to the positive semidefinite cone \mathbb_+ in the subspace of symmetric matrices \mathbb{S}. This linear matrix inequality specifies a convex constraint on y. Applications There are efficient numerical methods to determine whether an LMI is feasible (''e.g.'', whether there exists a vector ''y'' such that LMI(''y'') ≥ 0), or to solve a convex optimization problem with LMI constraints. Many optimization problems in control theory, system identification and signal processing can be formulated using LMIs. Also LMIs find application in Polynomial Sum-Of-Squares. The prototypical primal and dual sem ...

Linux Mark Institute
The Linux Mark Institute (LMI, fully "LMI Oregon, LLC") is an organization which administers the "''Linux''" trademark on behalf of Linus Torvalds for computer software which includes the Linux kernel, computer hardware utilizing Linux-based software, and for services associated with the implementation and documentation of Linux-based products. Trademark The ''Linux'' trademark is owned by Linus Torvalds in the U.S., Germany, the E.U., and Japan for "Computer operating system software to facilitate computer use and operation". The assignment of the trademark to Torvalds occurred after a lawsuit against attorney William R. Della Croce Jr., of Boston, who had registered the trademark in the US in September 1995 and began in 1996 to send letters to various Linux distributors, demanding ten percent of royalties from sales of Linux products. A petition against Della Croce's practices was started, and in early 1997, WorkGroup Solutions, Yggdrasil, Linux Journal, Linux International ...

Lisp Machines, Inc
Lisp (historically LISP, an abbreviation of "list processing") is a family of programming languages with a long history and a distinctive, fully parenthesized prefix notation. Originally specified in the late 1950s, it is the second-oldest high-level programming language still in common use, after Fortran. Lisp has changed since its early days, and many dialects have existed over its history. Today, the best-known general-purpose Lisp dialects are Common Lisp, Scheme, Racket, and Clojure. Lisp was originally created as a practical mathematical notation for computer programs, influenced by (though not originally derived from) the notation of Alonzo Church's lambda calculus. It quickly became a favored programming language for artificial intelligence (AI) research. As one of the earliest programming languages, Lisp pioneered many ideas in computer science, including tree data structures, automatic storage management, dynamic typing, conditionals, higher-order functions, recursi ...

Local Management Interface
Local Management Interface (LMI) is a term for some signaling standards used in networks, namely Frame Relay and Carrier Ethernet. Frame Relay LMI is a set of signalling standards between routers and Frame Relay switches. Communication takes place between a router and the first Frame Relay switch to which it is connected. Information about keepalives, global addressing, IP multicast and the status of virtual circuits is commonly exchanged using LMI. There are three standards for LMI: * Using DLCI 0: ** ANSI's T1.617 Annex D standard ** ITU-T's Q.933 Annex A standard * Using DLCI 1023: ** The "Gang of Four" standard, developed by Cisco, DEC, StrataCom and Nortel Carrier Ethernet Ethernet Local Management Interface (E-LMI) is an Ethernet layer operation, administration, and management (OAM) protocol defined by the Metro Ethernet Forum MEF, founded in 2001, is a nonprofit international industry consortium, of network, cloud, and technology providers. Log Management And Intelligence
Log management is the process for generating, transmitting, storing, accessing, and disposing of log data. A log data (or ''logs'') is composed of entries (records), and each entry contains information related to a specific event that occur within an organization's computing assets, including physical and virtual platforms, networks, services, and cloud environments. The process of log management generally breaks down into: * Log collection - a process of capturing actual data from log files, application standard output stream (stdout), network socket and other sources. * Logs aggregation (centralization) - a process of putting all the log data together in a single place for the sake of further analysis or/and retention. * Log storage and retention - a process of handling large volumes of log data according to corporate or regulatory policies (compliance). * Log analysis - a process that helps operations and security team to handle system performance issues and security incidents ...
