Keeled Scales
Keeled Scales is an independent record label based in Austin, Texas. It was founded in 2014 by musicians Tony Presley (Real Live Tigers) and Seth Whaland (Literature, Tres Oui). The label has released over 60 albums from artists such as Buck Meek (of Big Thief), Katy Kirby, Lunar Vacation, Sun June and more. In 2020, the label helped curate a benefit compilation to support the Estok’Gna, an indigenous Texas tribe, in their efforts to protest the building of a gas pipeline through their lands. In 2021, Keeled Scales entered into a partnership with fellow indie label Polyvinyl Records, but still retains creative control over its operations. Secretly Distribution
Secretly Group is a family of United States, American independent record labels based in Bloomington, Indiana. The group is made up of Secretly Canadian, Jagjaguwar, and Dead Oceans. Secretly Canadian, the first of the labels, was formed in 1996 in music, 1996 by brothers Chris and Ben Swanson, Eric Weddle, and Jonathan Cargill. Their first release was a re-issue of an album by June Panic. Weddle later left to form label Family Vineyard; the remaining trio were joined by Darius Van Arman, as well as his label Jagjaguwar, in 1999. The Carrizo/Comecrudo Nation of Texas, Inc., is a cultural heritage organization of individuals who identify as descendants of the Comecrudo people. Also known as the Carrizo people, the Comecrudo were a historic Coahuiltecan tribe who lived in northern Tamaulipas, Mexico, in the 17th to 19th centuries. The Carrizo/Comecrudo Nation of Texas, Inc. is an unrecognized organization. Despite the word ''nation'' in its name, it is not a federally recognized tribe, nor a state-recognized tribe, nor recognized by any other Tribal Nation. The paper is distributed through free news-stands, often at local eateries or coffee houses frequented by its targeted demographic. In 2001, the newspaper reported a weekly readership of 545,500.
