Ibb () is a city in Yemen, the capital of Ibb Governorate, located about northeast of Mocha and south of Sana'a. A market town and administrative centre developed during the Ottoman Empire, it is one of the most important medium-sized cities in the country. It is situated on a mountain ridge, surrounded by fertile land. As of 2023, it has an estimated population of 771,500 residents. Other names for Ibb, is "The Land of Green" History Ibb has been occupied since ancient times, and due to its strategic importance, the Ottomans used it as an administrative center. Ibb Governorate
Ibb ( ') is a governorate of Yemen. It is located in the inland south of the country with Ta'izz Governorate to the southwest, Ad Dali' Governorate to the southeast, Dhamar Governorate to the north, and short borders with Al Bayda' Governorate to the east and Al Hudaydah Governorate to the west. It has an area of 5,344 km² and a population estimated at around 1,665,000 in 2004, making it the most densely populated governorate in Yemen outside of San'a city. It is the third largest province in Yemen. Its capital is Ibb, which, along with Jibla, are extremely significant historic cities. Jibla, Yemen
Jiblah () is a town in the Ibb Governorate of Yemen, south-west of the city of Ibb. It is located at the elevation of around , near Jabal At-Ta'kar (). The town and its surroundings were added to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List due to its purported universal cultural value. Abdul Karim Al-Iryani
Abdul Karim Ali Al-Iryani (; ; 12 October 1934 – 8November 2015; also spelled Al-Eryani) was a Yemeni politician who served as the Prime Minister of Yemen from 29 April 1998 to 31March 2001. Al-Iryani, along with President Ali Abdullah Saleh, was the Secretary General of the General People's Congress (GPC). Early life and education Born in Iryan, a village in the central highlands of Ibb, in 1934, Al-Iryani belonged to a prominent family that had held government posts in the region for centuries; many of his ancestors and relatives were judges. Yemen is one of the oldest centers of civilization in the Near East. As-Sahul Valley
Al-Saḥūl () is both a town and a wadi located between the city of Ibb and al-Makhadir District in Ibb Governorate, Yemen.
