Hogwash (album)
''Hogwash'' is a 1972 album recorded by The Groundhogs, originally released by United Artists Records in 1972, catalogue number UAG 29419. The most recent CD reissue is that of 2008 by BGO Records, catalogue number BGOCD787. Music The sound of ''Hogwash'' has been classified as progressive rock, and it draws from elements of psychedelic music, space rock and blues. Tony McPhee was one of the earliest rock guitarists to experiment with guitar controlled synthesis and Oberheim/Maestro ring modulators. On this album he used a Hagstrom guitar synthesizer, a simple controller for an ARP 2600. The Hagstrom was monophonic and had resistors soldered on at each fret to create a monophonic control voltage bus and trigger gate. This allowed the guitar sound to be doubled, (but not bent by string pulls) and also required the analog synth to hold its tuning over the entire range. The album closes with a tribute to John Lee Hooker. Track listing All tracks composed by Tony McPhee # "I ... Pig Swill
The pig (''Sus domesticus''), often called swine, hog, or domestic pig when distinguishing from other members of the genus '' Sus'', is an omnivorous, domesticated, even-toed, hoofed mammal. It is variously considered a subspecies of ''Sus scrofa'' (the wild boar or Eurasian boar) or a distinct species. The pig's head-plus-body length ranges from , and adult pigs typically weigh between , with well-fed individuals even exceeding this range. The size and weight of hogs largely depends on their breed. Compared to other artiodactyls, a pig's head is relatively long and pointed. Most even-toed ungulates are herbivorous, but pigs are omnivores, like their wild relative. Pigs grunt and make snorting sounds. When used as livestock, pigs are farmed primarily for the production of meat, called pork. A group of pigs is called a ''passel'', a ''team'', or a ''sounder''. The animal's bones, hide, and bristles are also used in products. Pigs, especially miniature breeds, are kep ... Nonsense
Nonsense is a communication, via speech, writing, or any other symbolic system, that lacks any coherent meaning. Sometimes in ordinary usage, nonsense is synonymous with absurdity or the ridiculous. Many poets, novelists and songwriters have used nonsense in their works, often creating entire works using it for reasons ranging from pure comic amusement or satire, to illustrating a point about language or reasoning. In the philosophy of language and philosophy of science, nonsense is distinguished from sense or meaningfulness, and attempts have been made to come up with a coherent and consistent method of distinguishing sense from nonsense. It is also an important field of study in cryptography regarding separating a signal from noise. Literary The phrase " Colorless green ideas sleep furiously" was coined by Noam Chomsky as an example of nonsense. However, this can easily be confused with poetic symbolism. The individual ''words'' make sense and are arranged according to pr ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Louis Jordan Discography

During the 1940s, he was the most popular recording artist of the soon-to-be-called rhythm and blues music.Whitburn 1988, p. 584. Jordan had eighteen No. 1 hits, which places him as the third most successful singles artist in ''Billboard'' R&B charts history.Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder are tied for first with twenty each. His 1946 recording of "Choo Choo Ch'Boogie" is tied for second place for spending the most weeks (eighteen) at No. 1.Joe Liggins's "The Honeydripper" was also No. 1 for eighteen weeks. Jordan's success was not limited to the R&B market — he also had No. 1 hits on the Billboard Pop and Country charts. The peak of Jordan's popularity occurred when the two-song record single was the typical format, before the emergence of the long-playing record album. As a result, although he recorded prolifically, he had relatively few albums until compilations began appea ... The Tussler – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
''The Tussler – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack'' is the first album by Motorpsycho & Friends, released in 1994. The album was the soundtrack to a fictional Spaghetti Western by non-existent director Theo Buhara. Its Country Rock sound marked a drastic departure from the earlier Motorpsycho records, which were hard-rocking. Originally released only on CD in 1994 in two very limited editions, it was re-released in 1996 as a double 10" vinyl, after the band, now calling themselves The International Tussler Society, got together again to record some new material in (supposedly) late summer 1995. From these sessions, four songs were included as bonus tracks on the vinyl reissue. After a long hiatus, the I.T.S. regrouped in 2002 to play some gigs and decided to remaster the original album, which had become a sought-after rarity in the Motorpsycho catalogue. It was finally released in 2003 in its definitive form including all songs from the 1995 sessions. Track listin ... According to an AllMusic review, the new lineup provided Fu Manchu with "the impetus and inspiration to really start moving forward," and the resulting album demonstrates the band's " punk energy, classic rock drive, psychedelic crunch, and heavy-ass grind all at once." Track listing The European version includes two more songs: Personnel *Scott Hill – vocals, guitar *Brant Bjork – drums *Bob Balch – guitar *Brad Davis – bass, theremin *Jay Noel Yuenger – producer, organ, Minimoog, Electro-Harmonix Space Drum Notes *"Module Overload" was first released on the ''Godzilla'' EP and was re-recorded with a new vocal lin ...
