History Of Real Madrid
Real Madrid Club de Fútbol is a professional football club based in Madrid, Spain. The club was formed in 1902 as Madrid Football Club, and played its first competitive match on 1902 Copa de la Coronación, 13 May 1902, when it lost 3–1 in the semi-final of the Copa del Rey, Campeonato de Copa de S.M. Alfonso XIII against FC Barcelona. Real Madrid played against other local clubs in various Campeonato Regional Centro, regional tournaments, that served as qualifiers for the Copa del Rey, from 1902 to 1940. In 1929, the club became one of the founding members of La Liga, Spain's first national league. As of 2024, Real is one of only three clubs never to have been Promotion and relegation, relegated from the top level of Spanish football, the others being Athletic Bilbao and Barcelona. 1961–62 Real Madrid CF Season
The 1961–62 season is Real Madrid Club de Fútbol's 59th season in existence and the club's 30th consecutive season in the top flight of Spanish football. The season saw Real Madrid win the domestic double and get agonizingly close to clinching its first ever treble (similarly to the 1957–58 season), only to be defeated by Benfica in an exhilarating European Cup final. 1980–81 European Cup
The 1980–81 European Cup was the 26th season of the European Cup, UEFA's premier club football competition. The tournament was won for a third time by Liverpool, who beat six-time champions Real Madrid in the final. In the 11 seasons up to and including this one, there were only four winners of the European Cup (Ajax, Bayern Munich, Nottingham Forest and Liverpool), but there were eleven different runners-up. The 1963–64 European Cup was the ninth season of the European Cup, UEFA's premier club football tournament. The competition was won by Inter Milan, who beat Real Madrid 3–1 in the final at Praterstadion, Vienna, on 27 May 1964. The 1961–62 European Cup was the seventh season of the European Cup, UEFA's premier club football tournament. The competition was won by Benfica for the second time in a row, beating Real Madrid 5–3 in the final at the Olympisch Stadion, Amsterdam, on 2 May 1962. This outcome meant that Real Madrid became the first team to win and lose European Cup final. 1966 European Cup Final
The 1966 European Cup final was a football match held at the Heysel Stadium, Brussels, on 11 May 1966 that saw Real Madrid of Spain defeat FK Partizan of Yugoslavia 2–1 to win the 1965–66 European Cup title. Route to the final Match Summary Partizan took the lead through a goal by Velibor Vasović in the 55th minute, but Real Madrid equalised in the 70th minute through Spanish international Amancio. Fernando Serena scored the winner for Real six minutes later. This was Real Madrid's sixth European Cup triumph in the 11 years of the tournament's existence, with Paco Gento being the only Madrid player to win all of these. However, they would not win the competition again until 1998, when Predrag Mijatović–– who was, ironically, a former Partizan player–– scored the winning goal in the 66th minute of the final. The 1960 European Cup final was a football match played at Hampden Park in Glasgow, Scotland on 18 May 1960 as the conclusion to the 1959–60 European Cup. The 1959–60 European Cup was the fifth season of the European Cup, Europe's premier club football tournament. The competition was won by Real Madrid, who beat Eintracht Frankfurt 7–3 in the final at Hampden Park, Glasgow, on 18 May 1960, thanks to first ever hat-tricks scored in the final of the competition by Ferenc Puskás and Alfredo Di Stéfano.
