Hima Ikimotu Douglas (also known as Himalea I Takelesi) (born 1946 or 1947) is a Niuean broadcaster, politician, and diplomat who is the current speaker of the Niue Assembly. Douglas was educated in New Zealand and holds an accounting degree. He worked as a broadcaster, a broadcasting consultant, and a public servant for the South Pacific Commission and Niuean government, and for many years was manager of the Broadcasting Corporation of Niue. Nkore (also called Nkole, Nyankore, Nyankole, Orunyankore, Orunyankole, Runyankore and Runyankole) is a Bantu language spoken by the Nkore ("Banyankore") of south-western Uganda in the former province of Ankole, as well as in Tanzania, the DR Congo, Rwanda and Burundi. Runyankole is mainly spoken in the Mbarara, Bushenyi, Ntungamo, Kiruhura, Ibanda, Isingiro, Rukungiri, Buhweju, Mitooma, Sheema, Rubirizi and parts of Kitagwenda districts. The Hima or Huma are a pastoralist social class that is native to the grasslands of Western Uganda and Karagwe, Tanzania. Etymology Birgitta Farelius claims that the term "Hima" probably derives from the Bantu word for monkey ( enkíma), which is a totem animal of some clans originating from Karagwe and Ankole.
