High Tone
High Tone is a dub band from Lyon, France. Formed in 1997, the band came with an emergence of the French dub music Scene, with bands like Brain Damage, Kaly Live Dub, Le Peuple de l'Herbe, Improvisators Dub or Meï Teï Shô. Formed by five members, High Tone feeds their music with various influences, such as Drum'n'bass, Ambient, Trance, Vintage Dub with artists like King Tubby Osbourne Ruddock (28 January 1941 – 6 February 1989), better known as King Tubby, was a Jamaican sound engineer who influenced the development of dub music in the 1960s and 1970s. Dub Music
Dub is a musical style that grew out of reggae in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Brain Damage (dub Band)
Brain Damage is a French Dub band, from Saint-Etienne. The band was founded in 1999 by Martin Nathan and bass player Raphael Talis. It is considered one of the pioneering dub bands in France. History In the early 2000, Brain Damage experimented their first international collaborations in London with Dub specialists like The Disciples, Alpha and Omega, Zion Train or with the MC Tena Stelin. Their works based on Spoken word and Dub Poetry led them to include numerous voices in their tracks, like Black Sifichi and many others afterwards. From 2011 on, with the departure of Raphael for other projects, Brain Damage was to be composed solely of its frontman, Martin Nathan. King Tubby
Osbourne Ruddock (28 January 1941 – 6 February 1989), better known as King Tubby, was a Jamaican sound engineer who influenced the development of dub music in the 1960s and 1970s. Tubby's studio work, in which as a mixing engineer he achieved creative fame previously only reserved for composers and musicians, was influential across many genres of popular music. He is often cited as the inventor of the concept of the remix that later became ubiquitous in dance and electronic music production. Lee "Scratch" Perry (born Rainford Hugh Perry; 20 March 1936 – 29 August 2021) was a Jamaican record producer, songwriter and singer noted for his innovative studio techniques and production style. Perry was a pioneer in the 1970s development of dub music with his early adoption of remixing and studio effects to create new instrumental or vocal versions of existing reggae tracks. Jarring Effects is a French musical label based in Lyon, south-east of France.
