Keith Haring
Keith Allen Haring (May 4, 1958 – February 16, 1990) was an American artist whose pop art emerged from the Graffiti in New York City, New York City graffiti subculture of the 1980s. His animated imagery has "become a widely recognized visual language". Much of his work includes sexual allusions that turned into social activism by using the images to advocate for safe sex and AIDS awareness. In addition to solo gallery exhibitions, he participated in renowned national and international group shows such as ''documenta'' in Kassel, the Whitney Biennial in New York, the São Paulo Biennial, and the Venice Biennale. John Haring
John Haring (September 28, 1739 – April 1, 1809) was an American lawyer from New York. During his long political career, he was a delegate to the First Continental Congress and Congress of the Confederation, served as president ''pro tempore'' of the New York Provincial Congress, served in both the New York State Legislature and New Jersey Legislature, and was a presidential elector. Biography Haring was born to a large Dutch family at Tappan, New York, which was then part of Orange County. He was the fourth of eight children. His parents were Colonel Abraham and Martyntje (Bogart) Haring, and he was christened "Jan" at the Dutch Reformed Church of Tappan. He remained a member of that church throughout his life. Ruth Haring
Ruth Inez Haring (January 23, 1955 – November 29, 2018), also known as Ruth Orton, was an American chess player who held the FIDE title of Woman International Master (WIM). She competed in the United States Women's Championship in the 1970s and 1980s, and represented the US in the 1974, 1976, 1978, 1980, and 1982 Chess Olympiads. Haring was elected to the US Chess Federation Executive Board in 2009 and served as vice-president for two years, then as president for four years. She was reelected in 2013 for a three-year term, and served on the executive board for seven years. Tori Haring-Smith is an American academic and the former president of Washington & Jefferson College. Education Haring-Smith received a bachelor's degree from Swarthmore College and doctoral and master's degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Bob Haring (August 21, 1895 – February 18, 1975) was an American popular music bandleader of the 1920s and early 1930s. Biography Haring began recording as the music director of the then-new Cameo Records label beginning in 1922 under a plethora of pseudonyms, such as The Caroliners, The Lincoln Dance Orchestra, The Society Night Club Orchestra, King Solomon and His Miners, etc. (Cameo was one of the primary 'dime store' labels in the 1920s and Haring's sessions there were also issued on Plaza/ARC's other labels, including Romeo, Perfect, Oriole and others.) Haring Township is a charter township of Wexford County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 3,556 at the 2020 census, making it the most populous township in Wexford County. Haring is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Wexford County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population of the CDP was 335 as of the 2020 census. Haring is located within Haring Charter Township just north of the city of Cadillac. History Haring was first settled as early as 1872 around a mill operated by George A. Mitchell and Johnathon Cobbs. It later served as a railway station along Clam Lake (now known as Lake Cadillac). Firth Haring Fabend (born August 12, 1937) is an American novelist and historian. She was born in Tappan, New York, on August 12, 1937, the daughter of James Firth Haring and Elizabeth Adler. She graduated from Nyack High School in Nyack, New York, and is a 1959 graduate of Barnard College, where she majored in English literature. She holds a PhD in American Studies from New York University. She spent her Junior Year at Westfield College of London University. While working in book publishing in New York City and attending graduate school, she published five novels between 1968 and 1985.
