Goaltender (lacrosse)
In field lacrosse, the goaltender (goalie, goalkeeper, or the keeper) is the most important and last line of defense between the opposing offense and the goal. The goaltender's primary roles are to defend the opposing team's shots on goal and to direct the defense. Rules Goaltenders are the only ones on the field who can touch the ball with their hands. However, they are not allowed to pick up or control the ball with their hands. Hand touches are legal only when in the crease. Each team has a goaltender on the field at all times. If the goaltender stops a shot by the opposing team, or picks the ball up any other way, the goaltender has four seconds in the crease to pass the ball or run with the ball. If the goaltender fails to do so, the ball will be awarded to the opposing team. After those four seconds, the goaltender must leave the crease. Chris Garrity
Chris Garrity (born June 18, 1981) is a former professional lacrosse goaltender with the Chesapeake Bayhawks of Major League Lacrosse (MLL). He retired from MLL on 19 January 2012. Coming out of high school, Chris' best sport was soccer where he excelled as a marking back. Despite being a better soccer player Chris decided to pursue lacrosse in college. Professional career 2007 (Washington): Played in all twelve regular season games for the Chesapeake Bayhawks. Jack Starr
Jack Starr (born 1951) is an American heavy metal and blues guitarist. Biography Starr was born of a French mother and American father. He learned to play guitar by ear, copying the riffs of R&B records. His first semi-professional band was Les Variations in France with future members of Trust. In the U.S. Starr emerged on the rock and metal scene in 1981, forming, together with Joey Ayvazian, David DeFeis and Joe O’Rielly, the first incarnation of the heavy metal band Virgin Steele. Chris Sanderson was a lacrosse coach and member of the Canadian team defending their world championship. Blaze Riorden (born February 13, 1994) is an American professional lacrosse player who plays as a goaltender for the Carolina Chaos of the Premier Lacrosse League and as a forward for the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League, captaining both teams. Lawrence J. Quinn (born March 9, 1963) was an All-American lacrosse goaltender at the Johns Hopkins University from 1982 to 1985, leading the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays to the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship in 1984 and 1985, and two additional finals appearances in 1982 and 1983. Sal LoCascio (born April 6, 1967) is an American former professional lacrosse goaltender and coach who played the majority of his career for the New York Saints of the National Lacrosse League. He also played one season with the Long Island Lizards of Major League Lacrosse, and later served as the head coach of the MLL's Bridgeport/Philadelphia Barrage LoCascio is one of the few lacrosse players, and one of the only goaltenders to achieve success in both box and field lacrosse. Howard J. "Cookie" Krongard (December 12, 1940 – May 3, 2023) was an American attorney and government official who served as Inspector General of the Department of State during the George W. Bush administration.
