The Ghana national football team represents Ghana in men's international Association football, football. The team is named the Black Stars after the Black Star of Africa in the flag of Ghana. It is governed by the Ghana Football Association, the governing body for football in Ghana. Prior to 1957, it played as the Gold Coast (British colony), Gold Coast. Ghana qualified for the FIFA World Cup for the first time in 2006 FIFA World Cup, 2006. Ghana Football Association
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is the sports governing body, governing body of association football in Ghana, based in the capital city, Accra. Founded in 1957 to replace the Gold Coast (British colony), Gold Coast Football Association which was founded in 1920, it organizes and governs Ghana's football leagues, single-elimination tournament, football cup competitions and national teams. On 7 June 2018, the GFA was dissolved by the former Ministry of Youth and Sports (Ghana), Minister of Sport, Isaac Kwame Asiamah, after the discovery of corruption in the association through investigative videos which later made up Anas Aremeyaw Anas' Number 12 exposé. 1965 African Cup Of Nations
The 1965 African Cup of Nations was the fifth edition of the biennial African association football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) hosted in Tunisia from 12 and 21 November 1965. This was the final edition of the tournament to be held in an odd-numbered year before 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, 2013. The growing enthusiasm for the competition and the increasing number of participating teams led to an increase in the number of participants in the tournament, which rose from four to six teams. The 2015 COSAFA Cup was the 15th edition of the COSAFA Cup, an international football competition consisting of national teams of member nations of the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA). COSAFA Cup
The COSAFA Cup (known fully as COSAFA Senior Challenge Cup) is an annual tournament for teams from Southern Africa organized by Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA), inaugurated after the ban against the Republic of South Africa had been lifted and the African Cup of Nations had been staged there in 1996. 2013 WAFU Nations Cup
The 2013 WAFU Nations Cup (known as the Go!TV WAFU Cup for sponsorship reasons) is an international home-based football competition. It was hosted in Ghana. The competition was organised by the West African Football Union (WAFU). It was originally scheduled to take place between October 24 and November 3, however it was delayed and began on 21 November. The 1987 West African Nations Cup was the 5th and last edition of the tournament. It was held in Liberia between 30 January and 8 February. All matches were played in the capital Monrovia.
