Football At The Pacific Games
Association football has been regularly included in the Pacific Games, the multi-sports event for Pacific nations, territories and dependencies, since 1963. Until 2011 the competition was known as the South Pacific Games. Since 1971 the men's tournament has been held every four years, but was not played in 1999 due to contractual issues. In Men's football at the 2007 South Pacific Games, 2007, the men's competition doubled as the Oceania Football Confederation's preliminary qualifying competition for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The men's tournament also became the Olympic qualifier for Oceania for Men's football at the 2015 Pacific Games, the 2015 edition. The women's tournament was introduced in Football at the 2003 Island Games, 2003, and has doubled up as the preliminary qualifying competition for the Football at the Summer Olympics, Olympic Games since 2007. The 2015 Pacific Games men's football tournament was the 14th edition of the Football at the Pacific Games, Pacific Games men's football tournament. The men's association football, football tournament was held in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea between 3–17 July 2015 as part of the 2015 Pacific Games. The tournament was age-restricted and open to men's under-23 national teams only. The 2007 Pacific Games men's football tournament was held at the Toleafoa J.S. Blatter Complex in Apia, Samoa in from 25 August to 7 September 2007. The men's tournament formed the first stage of the Oceania Football Confederation's (OFC) qualification tournament for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the qualification tournament for the 2008 OFC Nations Cup.
