Fastbacks
Fastbacks are a Seattle, Washington, punk rock band. Formed in 1979 by songwriter/guitarist Kurt Bloch (born August 28, 1960), and friends Lulu Gargiulo (guitar and vocals, born October 12, 1960) and Kim Warnick (bass and vocals, born April 7, 1959), they disbanded in 2001 but have reunited multiple times. Their sound mixes a generally punk rock approach to vocals and sound textures with poppy tunes and strong musicianship. Although these three band members have remained fairly constant, they have gone through numerous drummers, including Duff McKagan, later of Guns N' Roses. MTV's web page on the Fastbacks says that estimates at the number of Fastbacks drummers "range from 12 to 20." Kurt Bloch
Kurt Bloch (born August 28, 1960) is an American songwriter, guitarist, engineer and record producer. Music career Bloch is best known as songwriter and lead guitarist of Fastbacks, and is a member of The Young Fresh Fellows. Record Production Bloch has recorded tracks and produced albums for The Presidents of the United States of America, Tokyo Dragons, Robyn Hitchcock, Les Thugs, Flop, Sicko, The Minus 5, The Venus 3, and more recently the Tall Birds. Richard Stuverud
Richard Allen Stuverud Jr. (born September 26, 1969) is an American drummer from Seattle, Washington. He lives in Oakland, California where he writes, arranges and produces songs. Stuverud played with Pearl Jam on several shows of the Gigaton Tour in May 2022, substituting for drummer Matt Cameron who had tested positive for COVID-19. Drumming duties during these shows were shared with Josh Klinghoffer. Career His debut album, Memories in Kodachrome', was released in May 2020. The follow-up album, Hummingbirds' was released in March, 2022. A 7" single, "Looking Back to Look Ahead", followed in March, 2023 featuring Jeff Ament on bass. Duff McKagan
Michael Andrew "Duff" McKagan (born February 5, 1964) is an American musician. He was the bassist of hard rock band Guns N' Roses for twelve years, with whom he achieved worldwide success in the late 1980s and early 1990s. McKagan rejoined the band in 2016, following their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Toward the end of his first tenure with Guns N' Roses, McKagan released the solo album ''Believe in Me (Duff McKagan album), Believe in Me'' (1993) and formed the short-lived supergroup (music), supergroup Neurotic Outsiders. The band formed in 1990, released recordings on the Frontier and Sony 550 record labels, and made a brief appearance in Doug Pray's motion picture documentary '' Hype!''. War Babies (band)
War Babies was an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington in 1988, fronted by former TKO vocalist Brad Sinsel. Although associated with hard rock, the band's sound incorporated some elements of grunge music. They only released one album, in 1992, the self-titled ''War Babies''. History After the break-up of TKO, vocalist Brad Sinsel and guitarist Rick Pierce (ex-TKO, Q5, Ze Whiz Kidz) teamed up for a project called Suicide Squad, aided by Seattle drummer, Richard Stuverud who had played with punk rock band, The Fastbacks, and was working with the power metal band Fifth Angel. Jeff Ament
Jeffrey Allen Ament (born March 10, 1963) is an American musician best known as the bassist of rock band Pearl Jam, which he co-founded alongside Stone Gossard, Mike McCready, and Eddie Vedder. Ament wrote or co-wrote many of Pearl Jam's hits, including " Jeremy", "Oceans", "Dissident", " Nothingman" and " Nothing as It Seems". Visqueen (band)
Visqueen is an American power pop/punk music, punk rock band from Seattle, Washington (state), Washington, United States, formed in 2001. It is named after a brand of polyethylene film that United States Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge once recommended as a defense against bioterrorism. The band's original members were singer-songwriter-guitarist Rachel Flotard and drummer Ben Hooker, both formerly of Hafacat; Allan Ross (guitar; left in November 2001), and Kim Warnick, formerly of the Fastbacks. PopLlama Records is an independent record label founded by record producer Conrad Uno in Seattle, Washington, in 1984. After making several of his own demos in his basement studio, Uno would produce The Young Fresh Fellows' debut album ''The Fabulous Sounds of the Pacific Northwest'' at the band's request. When the band decided to release their own albums, Uno founded PopLlama Records to help, releasing their debut album as well as the follow-up ''Topsy Turvy (Young Fresh Fellows album), Topsy Turvy''. Dan Peters
Daniel Joe Peters (born August 18, 1967) is the drummer for Mudhoney, having played with them since their formation in 1988. Prior to Mudhoney, he joined Bundle of Hiss when he was fifteen years old. He was also briefly the drummer for Nirvana in the summer of 1990, playing on one single, " Sliver", and making one live appearance with them that September in Seattle, shortly before drummer Dave Grohl joined. Peters has expressed his only regret as missing the chance to play drums on Nirvana's album ''Nevermind''. Mudhoney's latest offering is '' Plastic Eternity'' released on April 7, 2023.
