''The Farewell'' ( zh, c=别告诉她, p=Bié Gàosù Tā, l=Don't Tell Her, labels=) is a 2019 American comedy-drama film written and directed by Lulu Wang. It stars Awkwafina, Tzi Ma, Diana Lin, and Zhao Shuzhen. The film follows a Chinese-American family who, upon learning their grandmother has only a short while left to live, decide not to tell her and schedule a family gathering before she dies. The film is based in part on director Wang's life experiences, which she first publicly discussed as part of her radio story ''What You Don't Know'', which appeared as part of an episode of ''This American Life''. The film was screened in the U.S. Dramatic Competition section at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and was theatrically released in the United States on July 12, 2019, by A24. Farewell is an American pop punk band formed in 2004 in Greensboro, North Carolina. They were signed to Epitaph Records releasing two CDs. After fulfilling their contractual obligations with the release of their second CD, the relationship with Epitaph ended. History The band released its debut EP on May 24, 2005, entitled ''Poisoning the Lark'', on Forsaken Records. After posting new tracks on their MySpace page, Farewell was scouted by the owner of Epitaph Records, Brett Gurewitz who offered them a deal in March 2007. Preceded by the single "First One on the Blog" in August 2007, the band's first full-length album, ''Isn't This Supposed to Be Fun?'' appeared on the label on September 25, 2007. ''Farewell'' (french: L'affaire Farewell; literally ''The Farewell Affair'') is a 2009 French espionage thriller film directed by Christian Carion, starring Guillaume Canet and Emir Kusturica. The film is loosely based on the actions of the high-ranking KGB official, Vladimir Vetrov. It was released in the United States in June 2010. It was adapted from the book ''Bonjour Farewell: La vérité sur la taupe française du KGB'' (1997) by Serguei Kostine. ''Farewell: Live from the Universal Amphitheatre, Halloween 1995'' is a double live album and home video release by American new wave band Oingo Boingo, documenting their final concerts and ending on Halloween night of 1995. The band played a series of five nights, ending on Halloween night by playing more than 44 songs during a 4-hour set that went past midnight. As with all of their live shows, the setlist included songs from across the band's large discography, many of which were given new arrangements. Several of the tracks on the CD release were culled from recordings from previous nights in the same tour, meaning the performances occasionally differ between formats. "Just Another Day" and "Nothing to Fear (But Fear Itself)" were included as bonus tracks on the double cassette release.
