Mesenchyme () is a type of loosely organized animal embryonic connective tissue of undifferentiated cells that give rise to most tissues, such as skin, blood or bone. The interactions between mesenchyme and epithelium help to form nearly every organ in the developing embryo. Endometrial Stromal Nodule
An endometrial stromal nodule is a noninfiltrative, circumscribed proliferation of endometrial stromal cells and is a benign subtype of endometrial stromal tumor. The appearance of the cells is identical to normal endometrial stromal cells. This can only be differentiated from low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma by confirming lack of infiltration. The differential includes cellular leiomyoma. Endometrial stromal sarcoma is a malignant subtype of endometrial stromal tumor arising from the stroma (connective tissue) of the endometrium rather than the glands. There are three grades for endometrial stromal tumors, as follows. It was previously known as ''endolymphatic stromal myosis'' because of diffuse infiltration of myometrial tissue or the invasion of lymphatic channels. Low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma Low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma consists of cells resembling normal proliferative phase endometrium, but with infiltration or vascular invasion. These behave less aggressively, sometimes metastasizing, with cancer stage the best predictor of survival. The cells express estrogen/progesterone-receptors.
