The Elem Indian Colony of Pomo Indians of the Sulphur Bank Rancheria are a federally recognized Native American tribe of Pomo people in California. Reservation The Elem Indian Colony has an Indian Reservation based on near Clearlake Oaks, California on the Eastern shore of Clear Lake. The Elem Indian Colony reservation was originally formed under the name Sulfur Bank Rancheria () in 1949. The reservation lies between Clearlake Oaks to its north, and Clearlake to its south. Currently they are attempting to regain ownership of Rattlesnake Island near their reservation, where they had held ceremonies for centuries. Government Their tribal headquarters is in Lower Lake, California. The tribe was organized in 1936. Their Indian Child Welfare Act Designated Agent is Augustin Garcia. Clearlake Oaks is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lake County, California, Lake County, California, United States. Clearlake is a city in Lake County, California. Clearlake is north-northwest of Lower Lake, at an elevation of . As of the 2020 census, the city had a total population of 16,685, up from 15,250 in the 2010 census. It takes its name from Clear Lake. Lower Lake (formerly Grantville) is a census-designated place (CDP) in the southern Clear Lake region of Lake County, in northern California. The Native American Rights Fund (NARF) is a non-profit organization, based in Boulder, Colorado, that uses existing laws and treaties to ensure that U.S. state governments and the U.S. federal government live up to their legal obligations.
