Electoral District Of Oakford
Oakford is an electoral district of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly. The seat was created at the 2023 redistribution. Oakford was first contested at the 2025 state election and was notionally held by the Labor Party on a 27.7% margin. Yaz Mubarakai was elected as Oakford's first MP following a switch of electorates from Jandakot. Mubarakai would be succeeded by Stephen Pratt in Jandakot. Geography Oakford was created in response to significant population growth in the corridor between the outer southern Perth cities of Cockburn and Armadale. The district was named for the semi-rural locality of Oakford which takes up around one-third of the area. The City of Armadale is a local government area in the southeastern suburbs of the Western Australian capital city of Perth, about southeast of Perth's central business district. The City of Kwinana is a local government area of Western Australia. It covers an area of approximately 118 square kilometres in metropolitan Perth, and lies about 38 km south of the Perth central business district, via the Kwinana Freeway. Kwinana maintains 287 km of roads and had a population of 45,867 at the 2021 Census. History Kwinana is a Kimberley Aboriginal word meaning either "young woman" or "pretty maiden".
