Divisions Of Kenya
The districts of Kenya were divided into 262 divisions (''matarafa''). Divisions of Kenya were further subdivided into locations. Today's counties of Kenya are based on the merging of some of the districts on this list and since the divisions are one level under the districts they are now the sub-counties. This is because Kenya recently changed its constitution and 47 Counties emerged. Districts Of Kenya
Sub-counties, formerly known as Districts, are the decentralised units through which government of Kenya provides functions and services. At national level, sub-counties take a more administrative function like security, statistical purposes, provision of government services, etc. Even though the sub-counties are divisions of counties, powers to create new national sub-counties lies with the national government. As of 2023, there are 314 sub-counties, compared to 290 constituencies. A deputy county commissioner is appointed by the state to lead each sub-county. The sub-counties are further divided into Divisions of Kenya, divisions, Locations of Kenya, locations and sub-locations. Webuye, previously named Broderick Falls, is an industrial town in western region of Kenya and home to the Tachoni people. It is located within Webuye West sub county in Bungoma County, at the slopes of chetambe hill Kenya. Located on the main road to Uganda, the town is home to the Pan African Paper Mills, formerly the largest paper factory in the region, as well as East African heavy-chemicals plant. The area is heavily populated and is used mainly for subsistence agriculture. The town has an urban population of 42,642 (2019 census). Kimilili
Kimilili is a town and area in Kenya's Bungoma County. The area is occupied mainly by the Bukusu and a few Teso communities. It is a trading center for agricultural goods and services. The town has a population of 56,050 The surrounding region is mainly farmland with the main cash crops being coffee, maize, beans, sunflower seed sugarcane and bananas. The main town centre has several economic activities which include retail grocery stores, supermarkets, schools and computer colleges. There are numerous non-governmental organizations in Kimilili, the two main ones being ICFEM and Omwabini. Kimilili is home to the Western Provincial Police Training Center. Kapsokwony is a small town in Bungoma County, Kenya. The town is part of Mount Elgon County Council and Mount Elgon Constituency.
