Deus (styled as dEUS)As stylized by the band on all official artwork is a rock band based in Antwerp, Belgium, whose only continuous members up to the present day are Tom Barman (vocals, guitars) and Klaas Janzoons (keyboards, violin). The rest of the band's line-up currently consists of drummer Stéphane Misseghers, bassist Alan Gevaert, and guitarist/backing vocalist Mauro Pawlowski. History Formation Formed in 1991, dEUS began their career as a covers band, but soon began writing their own material. Their musical influences range from folk and punk to jazz and progressive rock. They first came to attention in Humo's Rock Rally of 1992, and after the release of the four-track EP " Zea", they were offered a recording contract with Island Records. Rudy Trouvé
Rudy Trouvé (born 28 January 1967) is a Belgian musician. In the early nineties, he founded the Heavenhotel record label and released dozens of records since. Between 1993 and 1995 he was part of Deus, quitting the band in favour of focusing on his own solo career, exploring obscure music groups and temporary collaborations. Since 1995, he scored most success with Kiss My Jazz and Dead Man Ray, and recorded a split album with Lou Barlow on the Sub Rosa label. Rudy Trouvé is regarded highly as an improvisor; in jam sessions and experimental concerts he has shared the stage with Mauro Pawlowski, Zeitkratzer Ensemble (Germany), Marc Ribot (US), Pierre Bastien, Pierre Berthet, members of DAAU, Zita Swoon, among others. As a former student at St-Lucas in Ghent, Rudy Trouvé is also famous for his artwork: figurative paintings and blow-ups which can be found on the record sleeves of most of his self-produced records and the bands he performed with. ''Worst Case Scenario'' is the debut studio album by Belgian rock band Deus released in 1994. The cover art was designed by guitarist Rudy Trouvé. It contains the single "Suds & Soda", which became an underground hit and a fan favorite. The album was first released in Belgium on the indie label Bang! with a different track listing: "Right as Rain" and "Great American Nude" (both tracks present on the '' Zea'' EP released in Belgium in 1993) are replaced by the song "Let Go". It was then released in the UK and Europe through Island Records with the track listing as written below. The song "W.C.S. Humo's Rock Rally
Humo's Rock Rally is a Belgian contest for rock bands, organized every second year since 1978. It is organized by the Belgian magazine ''HUMO''. Every band that has not yet released an official recording, may enter the Rock Rally, by submitting a demo to ''HUMO''. ''HUMO'' then selects 100 bands to compete in the pre-selections, followed by semi-finals and a final with 10 bands. The competing bands are assessed by a professional jury. Money prizes are awarded to the top three bands, as well as to one band chosen by the audience. The Rock Rally is an important possibility for young Belgian rock bands to get in the picture. Progressive Rock
