Securigera Varia
''Securigera varia'' (Synonym (taxonomy), synonym ''Coronilla varia''), commonly known as crownvetch or purple crown vetch, is a low-growing legume vine. It is native to Africa, Asia and Europe and is commonly used throughout the United States and Canada for erosion control, roadside planting and soil rehabilitation. It has become an invasive species in many states of the US. Crownvetch grows feet tall and bears small clusters of pink and white flowers from early summer to late fall. The variety Penngift produces mounds of pink flowers. Crownvetch is a tough, aggressive spreading plant that will crowd out its neighbors in a show garden but is well suited to a sunny bank, where it will grow for decades with little to no fertilizing, mowing, or weeding since the thick foliage prevents weeds from growing amid it. Coronilla Valentina
''Coronilla valentina'', the shrubby scorpion-vetch, scorpion vetch or bastard senna, is a species of flowering plant in the genus ''Coronilla'' of the legume family Fabaceae, native to the Mediterranean Basin, and introduced into Kenya and the United States. Linnaeus observed that the flowers, remarkably fragrant in the daytime, are almost scentless at night. In cultivation it is fairly hardy, but prefers Mediterranean conditions, with shelter and warm sunshine. The subspecies ''C. valentina'' subsp. ''glauca'' ( syn. ''C. glauca'') and its cultivar 'Citrina' have gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit The Award of Garden Merit (AGM) is a long-established award for plants by the British Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).
