Chasu
''Ch'asu'' () is a superior military rank of North Korea, often translated as Vice Marshal. The rank is senior to that of ''Daejang'' (General) and junior to that of ''Wonsu'' (Marshal). The rank is seldom bestowed upon the professional military, and appears to be rather a combined political-military position. The insignia for a ''chasu'' is superimposing a North Korean national crest upon a marshal's insignia star in the shoulder epaulette. Kim Ryong-yon (; 1916 – 20 March 2008) was a North Korean politician and military officer who held the rank of Chasu, Vice Marshal. Biography Kim served with the People's Liberation Army, Chinese Communist Army in 1930s and 1940s. Choe In-dok (; 1920 – August 31, 2003) was a North Korean politician, a member of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and an officer in the Korean People's Army. He held the rank of Vice Marshal. Biography He was born in 1920 in Anju, Kankyōhoku-dō, Korea, Empire of Japan. During the Japanese rule of Korea he was a member of the partisan resistance group, messenger of Kim Il Sung and a company commander. Kim Pong-ryul (; 1918 – July 1995) was a North Korean general of the Korean People's Army who served as vice Minister of the People's Armed Forces as well as member of the Workers' Party of Korea, North Korea's ruling communist party. Kim Kwang-jin (; May 12, 1927 – February 27, 1997) was a North Korean general and politician. He held the rank of Vice Marshal. Biography Kim Kwang-jin was born on May 12, 1927, in Pyongyang, Heian'nan-dō (South Pyongan Province), Korea, Empire of Japan. Before liberation, he was a worker. Paek Hak-rim (October 1918 – October 5, 2006) was the Deputy Director of the North Korean Ministry of Public Security. He occupied a number of high-ranking positions, including serving from 1998 to 2003 on the National Defense Commission. He was also the Minister of People's Security from 1998 to 2003.
