Buff-breasted Buttonquail
The buff-breasted buttonquail (''Turnix olivii'') is the largest and possibly the rarest of the buttonquail. This species is endemic to Cape York Peninsula, in Queensland, Australia. Description The buff-breasted buttonquail measures from and usually weighs over . Both the tail and wings are short. The back is chestnut. The sides of the head are marked with chestnut on an otherwise plain gray head; while the breast is warm buff-colored. The painted buttonquail and the brown quail both coexist with this species. The buff-breasted is larger (and longer-legged) than either and is quite different from the all-dark quail. The painted species is almost totally mottled, with bold white spotting on the breast and no warm buff coloration. The most similar species to the buff-breasted is the chestnut-backed buttonquail, which does not overlap in the wild. Herbert Christopher Robinson
Herbert Christopher Robinson (4 November 1874 – 20 May 1929) was a British zoologist and ornithologist. He is principally known for conceiving and initiating the major ornithological reference ''The Birds of the Malay Peninsula''. Robinson was born in Liverpool in a large family that included several brokers, barristers and academics. He was educated at Marlborough College, and received a scholarship for the Royal School of Mines though he was unable to complete his studies there due to a lung infection. He lived in Davos briefly for health. He joined New College, Oxford where an uncle was bursar, but gave up in 1896. The Morehead River Important Bird Area comprises a 1356 km2 tract of tropical savanna woodland in the south-eastern Cape York Peninsula of Far North Queensland, Australia. Description The land is mainly pastoral lease used for extensive cattle grazing. It consists of low hills drained by ephemeral creeks and covered with open savanna woodland containing ''Melaleucas''. Overgrazing
Overgrazing occurs when plants are exposed to intensive grazing for extended periods of time, or without sufficient recovery periods.
